Porscheman Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) I was going through my stash today and came across this Perry's resin that I built about 15 years ago. The car will be going into Purple Power this afternoon to strip the paint. The interior is in good condition and only needs some TLC. The chassis is from Revell's 67 Chevelle and sits on Modelhaus redwalls and Resin wheels.I haven't decided on the color or engine yet. Any suggestions.AlUpdate: I was going paint it gold, but when I was at Pepboys I saw Dupli-color's Torodor Red and fell in love with this Ford color. It's not a factory color, but I like the look. I started BMF yesterday and modified the chassis. This resto will be a curbside, way to much modifications for me to make a full detail car. The interior was painted flat black, detailed and top coat with wet look clear to give it a nice vinyl look. The shifter is a white end sewing straght pin. Edited June 13, 2013 by Porscheman
PappyD340 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hey Al, those are pretty sweet 1:1 cars my late mother-in-law had one same year and model hers was maybe Inca gold or what ever GM called their gold color in 68 with black interior had the same wheels too, man it was sharpe. Just a suggestion, I'm sure it will look good whatever you decide!!
Porscheman Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 Gold sounds good to me. I'm looking forward to this restore.
slusher Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 l remember seeing a silver on about 12 years ago. a great body style. Looking forward to your work Al.
LongRoofNut Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 These ol gals in silver look so commanding and stately.
epi4561 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I have a suggestion..... send that bad boy over to me... I love it... My first car was a 68 skylark, albeit in 1991. But I miss that car so much. I always thought it looked just a little bit tougher and meaner than the chevelle and 442, etc of the same years. Mine was the same color as your model, so that color has a soft spot in my heart. That canary yellow (or whatever they called it) always looks good on those cars also.
58 Impala Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I had a friend who had a 68 Skylark, he repainted his pearl white w/gold stripes aka Hurst Olds. It looked really nice.
Deathgoblin Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 My first car was a 72 Skylark. Wasn't a GS, but it looked pretty close to that. I loved that car. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this.
charlie8575 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I actually rather like the color it's in. 1968-69 Specials/Skylarks have a certain class that the 1970-72 models were missing. If you want a different color, Al, I would suggest Burgundy Mist (same color as Madeira Maroon), with a black interior. There's a convertible around here in yellow with a white interior. That looks nice, too. Charlie Larkin
Porscheman Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 Just updated my build. This is one of my best paint jobs to date.Hope you like it so far and like your comments on how to add more detail.Al
charlie8575 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 That looks great, Al. Toreador Red isn't quite Madeira Maroon- same basic color family, but it's a great color for that car, I agree. Charlie Larkin
Eric N. Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Al, The 68 looks great! I sould have bought one when I had the chance..A buddy is building that car. His color of choice is HoK Coca pearl. The red you chose looks very nice. Good luck w/it. Eric
LongRoofNut Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I am doing my '90 Mustang in the same color. It really is a eye catching color, looks right at home on the Buick.
