Hearing about the Revell release of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, I overly excited. Being a fan of Jeep since I could walk, I had to have one. Now, I know I have to have a few. This being my first completed build of the year, I'm happy with this kit.

Pros-

  • Simple yet fun build
  • Good clean parts with minimal problems
  • Giving the ease of this kit, customizing (Raise Higher, Roll Bar Doors, Net Doors, Caged Chassis, ETC) would be easy.

Cons

  • Parts almost feel like a Snap-Tite (which is a good sign to me)
  • Feels smaller than 1:25. More like a 1:27 or 1:28 to it.
  • Working suspension has a tendency to stick.
  • Lack of motor is a BIG negative to me.

I built this Jeep to replicate my Fathers so I could give it to him for Fathers Day. I was torn between building the model to look like his current Jeep or how we wants to build his (different color, Roll-Cage, etc.) I added the Tow Hook and Tow Wire up front for the Winch. This build will be the first of many with this model. So... Without further ado, Here's the photos.

Hope so... He'll see Sunday. I did enjoy building this for someone else rather than myself. Felt like I took my time and more care to make sure it's correct... I think from now on I'm going to build for my alter ego.

Nice looking Jeep James! Even though it's a curbside, I think I still gotta have one or two.

Thanks Roger!!

If one really wanted to step up to it (not me, lack of skill <_< ), could open the hood and cut out the bottom engine section of the chassis and slap a Hemi in it... Just a thought. :D

It won't be long before we see someone on the board doing that. Or adding a full detail chassis from another Jeep model under this body. Me? I don't care either way. I'm currently building a 2010 Mustang convertible. Others are making it full detail, I'm find having it as a curbsider.

With the Jeep being Curbside, the more I think about the build process the more I really enjoyed the build itself. The parts basically feel together and fit together perfectly. Definitely one of the better models I've had this year.

nice build !! maybe one day ... weather it with some mud on the arches ?? not to much just so it looks like its drivven trough a puddle of muddy water :)

That's the plan my good man. Going to be doing a couple of these Jeep builds. Thanks for the comment!

Nicely done James!

I just got back from a three-day weekend of nothing but JEEPS (1:1s). Can't believe NO ONE was selling these there...lots of vendors and a few older (overpriced) Jeep kits, none of these...they missed the boat, with hundreds of TJ owners there, they'd of sold like hotcakes!
