I've started assembly on '57 Chevy Stepside Hot Trucks kit #6309. When I wire and plumb I want to be sure of the firing order. I see no information on the instruction sheet regarding which engine is in the kit. Can anyone provide assistance or do I just "wing it". Thanks.

It is a generic run-of-the-mill SBC. I think it is just the Cameo's 283 with Weiand valve covers and air filter.

A-yup.

Unless it has the 4-7 firing order swap ;)

or the 2-3...

or both.

18726543 for the 2-3 and 4-7 swap done. smoother running engine and you pick up a few hp... mostly done on full tilt set on kill race engines

The firing order for a Chevy is 18436572. It doesn't take any longer to do the firing order correct than it it does to wing it.

SOURCED FROM THE WEB, according to the "FAIR USE" definition under U.S. Copyright law :

It's actually a 265, the 283 wasn't available in light trucks (except for Canadian GMCs) until '58. AMT mismarked the box on the Cameo.

I stand corrected! Learn something new everday. :)

Bill, you've done it again. I've never given a rodent's patootie about firing order, but when you lay concise diagrams in my lap like that, how can I NOT file it away for future use?
