spotarama Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 (edited) made these two from Revell Rat Rod kits, hope you like them, sorry the picture quality ain't great, i'm still getting the hang of close up stuff with the digi camera Edited July 23, 2013 by spotarama
Jantrix Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I like the track nose Model A. The other, with cab so far back is a little too odd for me. Try finding your macro setting on the camera, turn off the flash, get some good lighting and get in close.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 They are, cool subjects. Looks like you are off to a good start.
Danno Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 With all due respect, Spot, they don't actually fit in the commonly accepted definition of 'rat rods.' The glossy show-car paint, chrome, and finely finished appearances make them more consistent with traditional street rods, rather than grimy, junky beater-style rods referred to as 'rat rods.' Of course, your experience may differ. Regardless, they're nice builds!
Harry P. Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I like the track nose Model A. Me too. Pretty cool little car. But I agree with Dan... neither of them is really what we would consider a "rat rod," but that's not important. They both show good creativity. BTW... real full name in your signature is a forum rule. Somehow I get the feeling your name isn't really "Spot."
Tom Geiger Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 (edited) Most digital cameras have a macro setting. Check through your settings for a little flower which generally represents Macro. And per Harry, let us know your name and a bit about yourself. We may know folks in common. There are a number of Aussies here on the board. And we know your name isn't "Spot". My dog isn't even "Spot", he's "Ted". Edited July 23, 2013 by Tom Geiger

My dog isn't even "Spot", he's "Ted". I actually knew an attorney whose first name was "Spottswood." Mean parents, I think, although they used the excuse that it was an old family name. He struggled to be called by his middle name, but ornery friends insisted on calling him, "Spot."
outlaw035 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 i agree with danno more like old school hotrods then rats...that said the model A is really cool....the cab on the other model looks a little outta place sitting back so far but i like where ur trying to go with them...here is and idea next time ur gonna use a mexican blanket skip the decal and make ur own there really kinda easy to do here is a pix of one that i made.... her is the blanket be4 i put it in the model in the model...
spotarama Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 there we go, i've changed the tag to the name my mum uses (she's the only one though) the name 'spot' (or spotty or mr spot etc) was given to me about 30 years ago when i moved in with a friend and he noticed that my arms and legs are covered with scars and marks from insect bite 'spots', whenever i get bitten by anything, or get cut or scratched (pretty much any disturbance of the skin) it WILL get infected and take up to a year to heal, i've currently got a hole in my left forearm thats been there since last summer and shows no signs of going away....such is life. it all stems from when i was 5, i jumped into a european wasps nest that had moved into a hole i'd dug to play in in the back yard over a couple of days of lousy weather, apparently it should have killed me but as they say 'whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger' LOLanyway, to the models...i called them 'rat rods' cos i made them from the revell ratrod kits and the full cab one is inspired by a photo i saw of a japanese hotrod (check the 'rising sun' grill) that had had the body moved so far back that they could only just open the doors without hitting the rear wheels, loved it copied it.......i'm going to have a look thru the settings on my camera and see what i can find
