Scottnkat Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Here's my Mercury Monterey. This was modeled after my very first car. This started as a '66 Parklane. I removed all the Parklane trim, filled in the two-door seams, sanded off the door handles because they'd be in the wrong place, re-scribed the body to make it a four-door, cut off the top and the area between the trunk and the roof, then filled in the body between the trunk and body and added a new roof. To finish it off, I made new door handles. Hope you like the pics. Here's the underhood area: and a final pic:
PappyD340 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Very COOL, one of my uncles had one of those, I always thought that back window was the coolest thing, great job!!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Very beautiful car, and build. I would include some white lines on the tires, but that's a matter of personal taste, and not a modeling flaw. Thumbs up all the way!!!
cobraman Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Nice. Never saw a model of a Mercury Breezeway. Cool.
lazlow Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 That's neat. Did not see that engine coming. My grand father had one of these in the early 70's when I was a young'un, if I remember right the center section of the back window was electric and came down. Pretty cool. Laz
charlie8575 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The Breeze-way window was one of the cool ideas that never really caught on, but it also made for some interesting styling. It may be the angle of your pictures, but the roof looks like it's slanted a little- as though the back was higher; I remember those having a fairly flat roof, with a small dip at the very back. Either way, very nice conversion work, and definitely something to display with pride. Charlie Larkin

sjordan2 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The rear window treatment looks like they might have recycled components from the 1958 Continental Mk III.
realgone58 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Nice build, and I can appreciate the amount of work that went into it. Great door lines and nice handles! But the last year for the 4 door hardtop Breezeway was '64. 65-6 the 4 door hardtop used the formal roofline. You could however, get a 4 door sedan Breezeway. The roof was a bit different than the earlier design, as evidenced in this photo. It would be an easy fix on your model. But then again, it's cool the way it is and most folks would never know.
