Craig Irwin Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Alas, many of the B&N bookstores are closing.. No supprise, when every bookstore has a coffee shop and lots of seats and benches where you can sit and read without buying anything. How long would GM be in busness if the let you use a new car untill you didn't need it anymore?
Tom Geiger Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 No supprise, when every bookstore has a coffee shop and lots of seats and benches where you can sit and read without buying anything. How long would GM be in busness if the let you use a new car untill you didn't need it anymore? Very true. People use it as a library. Every time I go in there I see people sipping coffee and reading the magazines. I bought a Hemmings once that had a coffee stain in it.
RatRod Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I've been a little bummed that the B&N here has never carried one issue since the announcement. I've asked twice, once at the counter, and again with the person that handles the magazine section, both times I was told that it was in their system, but to date........NO MCM......
sjordan2 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) Going back to the original question, I wish Gregg would chime in with the answer, because he's the only one who really knows. Everything so far on this thread is just speculation. Edited August 3, 2013 by sjordan2
kitbash1 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Can not find it up here in Canada I'll have to get a subscription had one years ago when Greg first bought it. then I moved! Greg just never sell out to walmart they never have anything good Have you tried looking at Chapters? I get mine from my LHS , Randy always has my favorite mag in stock.
peter31a Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Same here. Don't use cash... I don't see why I should have to go to the ATM every few days and withdraw a wad of paper money. I use my debit card for everything. Depends where you live. Here in Canada you get dinged everytime you use debit or ATM's. We still use cash or credit (which gets paid each month). My wife works for an accountant and can't get over the statements she sees where people are paying over $200 a month for using debit card and the fees involved even when they special bank plans.

No fee here to use my debit card. It's linked to my checking account... it's just like writing a check without having to bother writing a check.
mrknowetall Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) No supprise, when every bookstore has a coffee shop and lots of seats and benches where you can sit and read without buying anything. How long would GM be in busness if the let you use a new car untill you didn't need it anymore? My local B&N does carry MCM, along with an impressive selection of other automotive titles. However, it does seem to be more of a library serving coffee and snacks. The actual book buyers are "window shopping", and I'm betting their book purchases go to Amazon. Plus the B&N locations are enormous, and that's just too much real estate rent for a book seller. Edited August 5, 2013 by mrknowetall
southpier Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 .....book purchases go to Amazon..... i cannot afford not
XJ6 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Only because most of the upcoming generation can't spell, read or write. And for God's sake, don't ask them to make change. If the computerized cash register is 'off' they can't do it. Sadly....There is some truth to that... My Daughter 23yrs of age....Wonders why i still write letters with the ole Pen & Paper....Because when i leave this Earth...She can Still hear from me Via all the Letters i have written here....I even sent here a Shoe Box Lol.... To me a Letter is more personal.....Of Course...She E-Mails me letters..Ha....When my laptop dies....Then i have also lost All her letters....Sure print them out...Put on a Disk...NA.....Just not the same.....Not Personal....I like to put perfume on her letter.....along with the bottle of perfume i send her 3 Times a Month...Trust me she has a Large Collection....I just want her to remember me every time she use Perfume... Just what i Do..... Thanks for Listening.....Cheers to all... Don.
Tom Geiger Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 and I'm betting their book purchases go to Amazon. i cannot afford not I buy most of my books on Half.com. The sellers there have beat each other to death so you can find most titles for about a dollar plus $3.99 shipping. So I get most of my books for $5
