Scale-Master Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Old and rare AMR 1/43rd white metal 1986 Corvette kit built as a specific 1988 Corvette replica. Unfortunately it was partially assembled by someone else when I got it and incorrectly to boot. The epoxy used to put the body together was stronger than the white metal, even after soaking in the solvent tank it would not come apart, so I had to work with what I had... I made new wheels out of brass to match the real car including the decals on the center caps. I cast new soft tires as well to replace the hard cracking kit tires. The license plate is also custom made to match; the rest is pretty much out of the box. It weighs 7 ounces and it’s not even 4 inches long. Seems odd to have that much metal percentage in a “plastic” car.
slusher Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Thats a really nice model. Nice work. at one time metal kits was very popular. l like them...
TooOld Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 That's pretty amazing , great job rebuilding it !
realgone58 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Wow, very very nice build in such a small scale.
Jeremy Jon Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Turned out really nice, the wheels look great! I've never been able to work in that scale - small details, fat fingers I guess
PappyD340 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Looks great, too small of a scale for me to work on also, but you did a fantastic job!
