Jordan 191 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I have owned this kit for a long time. I bought it in London, England on vacation with my wife when we were still dating. I made her take the Tube way out of the tourist areas to a hobby shop! I believe I carried it on my lap across the Atlantic. It has a cool JDM interior. I am using wheels from the Hasegawa Subaru Legacy. I am painting it with Tamiya Camel Yellow. However, I did not realize how important it is to use primer with Tamiya spray paint, and I majorly screwed it up. I was really happy to read on this site about paint stripping procedures. I used Dawn Power Dissolver, and now I have a nice fresh body to start over with. I plan to use Tamiya primer and do it correctly, sticking with my Camel Yellow plan. That body was covered in nastiness, and now it is perfect again.
Modlbldr Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 That is a nice looking kit of a fine car. Great work on the interior. Keep it up. Later-
Kennyboy Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Looking forward to seeing some progress on this. I used to have a WRX and a 2.5 RS Coupe. One was the show queen and one was the daily.
niteowl7710 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 (edited) If you can find some Tamiya white primer, go that route, the yellow will be a great deal brighter over a white base than gray. Edited September 7, 2013 by niteowl7710
Jordan 191 Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Thanks for the encouragement! Yes my LHS has Tamiya fine white primer, so I'll be using that.
Volvoman Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Good luck with this kit, I shall be watching your progress. I had this kit a while back but unfortunately I cut it up after having a bizarre idea about mating it up with a spare Impreza kit that I had to make a stretched limo version!! Needless to say it didn't work out and went straight into the spares box for parts.
slusher Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Everyone has a bad paint finish sometimes. Tamiya has the best primer. looking forward to your progress..
