crazyrichard Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 thnx both !!!! its sitting on 4 tyres , rear is still loose and body also but ... it sits yeeey on the rear wheels i drilled open the center of the rims and used brass tube ... this one compared to my other rods is pretty fragile so i think i will make a small dio for this rod with the rod fixed on the dio still to do > try to make tiny sparkplugs in the holes with connectors (wire is now just loose in the hole) make seats (bomber style) add gauges small details do something to the roof , maybe real wooden cross members
W-409 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I've been following this from the beginning and your building skills impress me every time. Rat Rods are not my style, but this is cool! I like the low stance and all little details that you've made. Red Steel Wheels with Whitewalls are perfect combo.

DrKerry Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I'd go with the wooden trusses in the roof opening...... Would look good with what you've already done....
crazyrichard Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) yes thats what i ment thnx well this update shows the difference with the ford hub caps .. looking inside you see the steering colomn painted chrome , nice and robust the engine was running rough so i went to the garage for a tune up .....lol also on these pics you see a test version of a canvas rood .. i will make a much better one later .. then with the real wooden trusses in the roof Edited January 3, 2014 by crazyrichard
bpletcher55 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 very nice work !you know i,m going to like it,I will say that those plug wires are a little big,but to each there own ,
crazyrichard Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 lol we had a discussion on a dutch forum , those are the plug wires from .hellin real life they really look thin and on pictures they look much thicker ..dinky from here saw them in real life and found them looking thinner on sight then on pics .. , maybe its teh fact they are yellow ??weird stuff hahaand thnx m8
bpletcher55 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 THATS COOL. I WAS JUST POINTING IT OUT ,I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME OF YOUR STUFF IN PERSON ,
DrKerry Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 You had it right Richard, just calling them what I call 'em. Either way you have got an incredible style of building.. You have a great eye for detail...
crazyrichard Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 thnx guys !! , kerry i will remember the word trusses and blair yes would be cool , bit far away i washed the hubcaps yesterday so the ford letetrs are more visible and cleaned up some general stuff
crazyrichard Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 started on seats today i made the tunnel to big , i could still add seats but in the end i figured why not try a bench that flows around the tunnel .. stylewise i like this more , more vintage then like bomber seats so i took a pick-up bench and cut it up and made it smaller , sawed a square hole so it fitted over the tunnel , then glued in thick styrene plate so i could file and sand a form in there ... the right side was the start of getting some shape in the added styrene left just styrene glued in followes the tunnel nicely and the tuck and roll lines (?) run through into the new styrene
crazyrichard Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 started on a shifter , made from brass tube and wire took some sprue and made a shiftknow , well not a knob but ..haha in the rod > the brass will be chrome and the knob will get some paint sprayed the bench in a base brown matt color , same as the body paint .. this will disapeir its just that this paint is a great base for some oil paint , and washes
Tom Geiger Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 The seat and shifter really work well with the project.
DrKerry Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 The seat and shifter really work well with the project. Ditto that!!!!!! Man that really hits the mark!!!!
crazyrichard Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 haha thnx guys !!! well i painted the shifter all chrome , looks great , the bench i washed with darkbrown .. in the end it kind of looked right after that first threatment .. now it really blends in .. would i make it lighter of elss brown like the car i think it would stand out to much then made a magazine with real pages .. i dont know why i never did this before took me like 14 minutes with printing and glueing all together , in the garage i used styrene and glues a front on , man that now looks so fake .. i will also make new ones but then with real printed pages inside (now they are just blanc) bend it a bit so it looks read
crazyrichard Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 omg ...................... after a lot of testing and trying in teh past i was never happy with the results ..... tonight i just thought i will try again .. what ? pinstriping on scale with paint .... now this time i was rather happy with the result , i kept it real simple and choose red and white to match the white walls and steelies i used a wooden meat stick with sharp point to paint ... now its rather simple and i will try to develope this in the future and maybe get some real designs on cars teaser > under the tails here they are tomorrow in daylight i think i can make better pics of the pinstripes , and i want to rub them with a soft cloth and wash the rear a tiny bit so it blends in
crazyrichard Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 about time haha i started the gasstation when i was about to finish this off ... it was sitting on the shelf all the time .. first time i didnt finish a build right away but now i kind of got real enthousiastic again ... today i have to think about some headlights .... find some / make some .. ooh and last night i ripped apart 2 of my rods and they are in pieces in a box .. going to rebuild them got a few cool idea's and those 2 where early builds and looking back i thought hmm ...
crazyrichard Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 some daylight pictures pinstripes on the bench some shots outside with a bit of sun without the sun the brown has got a different tone
crazyrichard Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 found some headlights and 2 matching lenses in the partsbox , they where a bit knackered but that kind of fits the theme anyway .. mounted them on steel pins a bit raised with a styrene rod inbetween them and painted them chrome on the car with a brush .. will get a wash later on
crazyrichard Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 sorry for the many updates but i washed , drybrushed the headlights with oil paint ..
ratchetman87 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Wow that is some pretty impressive building youve done there
