Dinky Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 (edited) My first "on the bench" project on the forum Started with the Revell 41 Willys street rod. The model is awesome but the wheels and wheel stance does not look that good in my opinion so i decided to lower the model and replace the wheels. Original chassis Modified chassis: Basecoat on the body: Engine The initial idea was to paint the interior red and i did but it didn't look that good so i removed the paint and i need to respray. The body is now painted with clear coat. I removed the chrome from the original scoop because it looked awful and sprayed in body color. Maybe I will use the Billet cleaners i bought. More pictures and updates soon Edited October 12, 2013 by Dinky
surfjunke Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Great start! Very clean work. I really like the painted scoop, very subtle. Beautiful finish & nice wheel choice.
1930fordpickup Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 The scoop looks much better painted body color . Great idea even if you do not use it.
Dinky Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 Thanks guys, i prefer the scoop the most. The billets were delivered with paper for the filter look but it does not look that nice so i think i will use the scoop. The chrome on the headlights and grill are bad also so i need to find a way to respray them both.
jsc Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Awesome paint! And with those wheels it really pops.
beeRS Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Looks awesome in black! Looks like a flawless finish.
Dinky Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Looks awesome in black! Looks like a flawless finish. Thanks I painted the body black the first time, when done i thought it was the wrong color for this car so i removed the paint. After a week doubts I painted it black again, and again i had doubts but after i applied the clear i was very happy with the result.
Jantrix Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 After a week doubts I painted it black again, and again i had doubts but after i applied the clear i was very happy with the result. You got it right man. This looks great.
Dinky Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 Little bit progress here The wheels with rotors and calipers are ready. Ill wait with the spinners for the last. Sprayed the chassis in gunmetal, I still need to some detail painting on it. Fitting and see how it looks with the brakes and engine in it. I messed up the chairs and some other interior parts with a new clear coat so I need to get the paint off before i can move on
TFchronos Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Beautiful work so far, can't wait to see more.
Dinky Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 Thanks guys Hope to have an update tomorrow.
Kennyboy Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Great work on the Black paint!! Very hard to get right because it shows EVERYTHING!! Holli's look awesome on it too!
Dinky Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) The chassis is good as done, except for the exhausts. I decided to shorten them because i don't want too see the pipes There will be steel end pipes from hobby design attached to the end. The mufflers are not solid so i glued a piece of plastic in it, putty is now in and drying. Making good progress with the interior, took me a lot of time because I painted this red first but i removed everything because i did not liked it and after applying this color i had issues with the clear. But its good now Btw the dashboard is not done yet, im not happy with it so this might change. Some tips on painting the tiny edges where the meters will come??? Edited September 23, 2013 by Dinky
slusher Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Very nice progress, everything is looking great.
Dinky Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) Interior is done, the edges are done with a toothpick. Edited October 10, 2013 by Dinky
Dinky Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 I'm not going really fast with my builds but I do have some progress The chassis is done, except for the spinners in the wheels and scoop. Those will be done as soon the body is on.
Del Austin Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Very clean build. Looking forward to seeing it all together.
Dinky Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Thanks, this weekend i should have some time to complete it
dpride Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I don't build anything this small anymore but this is a great looking car. All your detail and the stance is just right.
