Nacho Z Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I will add a slight twist to the conversation. I said earlier that I listen to music while I build. There are two other things I enjoy while building. I usually burn a little incense at the beginning of my building session. Takes me back to my younger days. I also have a lava lamp on. Never had one as a kid and I really get a kick out of it. Product of the 60's and 70's I guess
Skydime Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 You do know that Beiber is really Canada's retaliation to the States for Miley Cyrus right? We apologize. We waive the white flag. Please call him off. No, really she's an embarassment to humanity.
High octane Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 My normal work day is spent in and around casinos. At the best of times casinos are the noisest, crowded, most chaotic places you would ever visit. While it's exciting for patrons, it's a drag for us who work there or in my case police there. I build as a way to relax and unwind. I have done that for the better part of my career. Silence is truly golden. G I'm with you as I've worked on construction jobs for 30+ years and I've had enough noise. I like it quiet.
58 Impala Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 For me, I either have the tv on or Classic rock on I Heart radio.
Bastardo Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Music, talk shows on the radio (I just love talk shows on different topics, such as politics, music, science, ...) and one thing I can't imagine doing anything without: Chocolate. Galore. All the time. Yes, please!
Helix Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Silence is golden, all I can hear is my dog snoring under my feet !
TFchronos Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Sometimes I listen to music sometimes I don't it really depends on what I'm working on. When I do play music it's Metallica, and hard rock big hair bands like Def leppard, Winger, RATT, L.A. Guns Dokken, Tesla, Bon Jovi, & Motley Crue just a name a few.
KingSix Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Silence is golden, all I can hear is my dog snoring under my feet ! That almost goes without saying at my house. My dog is never more than 2 steps away from me ..
Bigjeff Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 That almost goes without saying at my house. My dog is never more than 2 steps away from me .. same here! 1st thing that went in my work space after a desk is my dog's blanket under it!
cartpix Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I have a cable box, in my hobby room, hooked up to my monitor. I usually watch it or Netflix. Jeff
johnbuzzed Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 If I'm home alone, it's radio: WXRC 95.7 ("The Ride") or WDAV ("Classical Public Radio"); TV would be the Big Bang, Seinfeld, a good, old classic movie (hopefully TCM)... maybe a NASCAR race or a ballgame. But I'll listen more than watch. If my wife is home, we usually compromise. Either way, I gotta have something on to keep the thoughts in my head from running amok.
DrKerry Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Got's to have the music going, for sure...... Now the question is do you listen to different types of music depending on the style of build???? I know when I build Ol Skool Kustoms or traditional hot rods I listen to Rock-A-Billy (mostly Stray Kats), If I'm building an aggressive mean street kustom Il isten to metal (Maiden, Savatage etc)........
The70judgeman Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I usually nip and clean up parts, detail paint, and assemble models in front of the idiot box in the living room. If I'm in the basement spray painting/air brushing I have the radio going just to have something to listen to besides the compressor. Someday I'll have a dedicated "work shop" for modeling.
