For my quarterly budget, I had to decide between Rush and Gravity, and went with Gravity (awesome, if you haven't seen it in IMAX 3D). But I have Rush pre-ordered on DVD. Just got a Sony Home Theater System, and I'm ready to crank up Grand Prix on DVD.

I went to it with a friend that is very into most racing that has four wheels, his only complaint was that the Ferraris didn't sound correct...being that the engine sounds for the Ferraris weren't pitched high enough since Ferraris tended to be higher revving engines. A brief review of the movie LeMans made his point when some actual racing Ferraris were on screen with sound recorded at the race used to produce the movie.

Just seen Rush last night. I'm mightily impressed. What inspirational characters Lauda and Hunt were. As soon as the movie finished I looked Up wiki to find out more.

With all the glowing reviews I wonder where to start. I guess first off, I did like the film and the two hours went by fast leaving me feeling sad at the end thinking about the main characters. :(

It is a great film not flinching from the real history of both cars and drivers. However thinking of the many hours watching F1 on TV I didn't think the racing scenes were up to par. I did think they were a little more artsy than necessary. I would have prefered more technical information and coverage of the cars. Case in point the six wheel Tyrrell cars were there but if you didn't know they were in the film the novice would miss them. 2774267293_e1d5b0d3f2_o.jpg It is one of the better Racing films to date. I think one would be hard pressed to find one better. I really think you miss a lot by not seeing this on the BIG screen.

For me, it's on-screen violence that I hate. I don't see how anyone can see graphic bloody killings and mutilations and whatnot as being "entertaining," but hey, that's me.

My wife is the same way but I don't mind that stuff. I can separate it from reality and know it's just a movie and it's all fake. Nobody's really killed. In fact, because I took several film classes in college, I'm actually fascinated by that stuff because I like to watch and try to figure out how they did it, how it was shot, how the stunt men did the scene, etc. I appreciate great stunt work.
