BluePopsicle Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I love the level of detail on the engine. Can't wait to see more.
rv1963 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Thanks guys, next I will start work on the chassis so I can fit the engine and finish the detail work.
Dragracer Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Looking good Robert!, the body/paint came out nice, engine detail looks good too.
brett Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 looking very good, I was hoping it would be a relatively easy build but................... Well at least now I have a plan of attack, I'll use your build as a guide
rv1963 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Time for an update, I finished the interior pretty much stock except for the belts and a few lines running to the gauges. The seat is to small and out of scale I think. All comments welcome.
rv1963 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Thanks Brett, my build as a guide lol, Thanks Carl, I will post anther update Friday as I have almost finished the body.
rv1963 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) Update time, a few pics of the body, it's pretty much done. All comments welcome. Edited October 25, 2013 by rv1963
gtx6970 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Looking real good. keep em coming, I read somewhere this kit has chassis to body fitment issues so I am watching real close to see if thats the case or not. As I've got this exact same build in the que for myself ,,,and soon
Dragracer Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 The interior tin came out looking good as well as the body, great paint & decals!
rv1963 Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Thanks guys, yes the interior ,body and chassis does have a fit issue, I had to shave a little off the interior floor and move it back to make it fit.
slusher Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Beautiful work on the body Robert. Your making me want one of these...
Speedfreak Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Nice build Robert. It looks like to me ( I could be wrong) that the 'out of scale' issue on the interior might be the steering wheel and not the seat. It looks huge.
rv1963 Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 You may be correct Gene, I think it's both the steering wheel is to big and the seat is to small.
rv1963 Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) Update time, the chassis is almost done, still needs wheelie bars, engine and some touch up here and there. The front rims are from my parts box and the rears are a resin set I got off ebay. All comments welcome. Edited October 27, 2013 by rv1963
W-409 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I've been watching this one closely since the beginning. Very nice work with the engine, interior, frame and body... Everything looks really good to me. Nicely done GTO, I'll be watching this one.
slusher Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Frame and interior look very good Robert. The steering wheel does not look bad to me but if you wanted its an easy fix. l would leave it..
rv1963 Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 Thanks guys, Thanks Carl, I think I will live with the steering wheel. Now I have to order some putty so I can make that second fuel tank.
rv1963 Posted October 31, 2013 Author Posted October 31, 2013 Time for an update, I installed the steering gear, wheelie bars, and the engine. I still have to add the headers, blower drive, fuel tanks and do some plumbing.
rv1963 Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Got an update on the fuel tanks. The chrome tank on the left in both pics is the stock part not really the correct shape and may be a little small I also needed 2 of them. The first pics shows the tanks in their raw state and the second shows a bit of shaping after about 15 minutes.
slusher Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Nice progress Robert. Your right the kit tank is way undersized...
rv1963 Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) Thanks Carl, yep I think the kit part is a little to small and the real car had 2 lol. It's also hard to tell from my reference pics but I think that one of the fuel tanks may be sectioned off and is being used as an oil tank as there are lines going from the engine to a couple of cylinders with caps and than to one of the tanks. I will make the mounts for both tanks and than some plumbing and I think I will be finished. Edited November 4, 2013 by rv1963
rv1963 Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 Update time, I installed the blower drive setup, the fuel tanks, fuel tank mounts and the fuel pump. I only have to install the headers before I start the plumbing. I think this will be the last update before I finish. I may just start a new thread for the finished model. All comments welcome.
