I think we deserve an update 5 decades later. I've always wondered what happened to the "bed-cap" that was included with AMT's 1977 Ford truck; sure would LIKE to see that included with the next reissue. 1

Or a 3d resin U Haul body, here is a nice one in much smaller scale, the very popular '76-'79 "TC" No automatic, no AC, no power windows or steering in those days. 1:87 scale 76 Ford U-Haul - Imgur Edited July 13 by leafsprings2 1

I wonder if they could do some retooling on the kit, maybe do an accurate short bed and generally freshen up the mold. I wouldn't say no if they remove the side trim too. The kit might reach a whole new bunch of buyers. Surely that would give them a 'new' kit to sell at half the price of a completely new one. I have several of the various reissues and don't need anymore. If not here's hoping Moebius picks up the reins. A shortbed with the round headlamps would be nice. 1

If anyone wants to build one of these, it seems Diolex makes a version. They also have some other really cool stuff. The 1980 has the flattop bed, but it might be too wide. 1
mk11 Posted Wednesday at 11:46 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 11:46 PM (edited) Either the monogram '80 or the revell NightRider bed will probably work. Revell nr is about 1/26 though. Monogram '53 might also work if bed side tops are modified to be flat. Compare the widths in scale with the factory specs... Edited Saturday at 03:36 AM by mk11
