cobraman Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Not one of my best efforts to be sure but decided to post anyway. Kit is a curbside. Large decals were a pain and I did not do a very good job with them. I'm not going to blame the kit, it is what it is. I did it pretty much out of the box with only a wheel and tire change. Close to the end I kind of lost intrest in it and just wanted it done. Not the best way to build a model but that happens with me once in awhile. Comments both good (?) and bad are always welcome.
Shardik Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Cut down the shine on the vinyl roof, and I think it'll look just fine.
cobraman Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 I used semi gloss on the roof but your right it is too shiny. Maybe a mask and a shot of dullcoat. ?
Shardik Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Yeah. Looks like it would be pretty easy to mask, except for the landau irons. Maybe some liquid mask for those.
Eshaver Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Hard to believe such a nice model could have come from such a sorry kit !
Heartattaq Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I wonder if a spray of satin clear on the roof would do the trick, other than that, love the color and I flames
Chuck Most Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I've never seen this kit built before- it actually looks pretty decent aside from the rear wheels being a bit far back in the openings.
cobraman Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 No driveshaft? No exhaust manifolds? Drive shaft ? Yes, it's black and hard to see in the photo. Exhaust manifolds ? No.
espo Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I think your bird looks good. From what others have said of this kit leaves a lot to be desired. On the roof issue you might try Rust-Oleum TEXTURED paint. It was designed for indoor/outdoor metal surfaces. It has a fairly flat finish, and can be had in black or white. Got mine at wally world for about $5. It might be best to paint it after every thing else since masking tape will not prevent other paint from bleeding under the tape.
slusher Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Ray your build looks very good and nice color and wheels. There is only so much you can do with some kits.
