fredk Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I found a link to this forum on the modelling forum 'Britmodeller'. I thought I would come along and join in as I find I'm doing more and more cars and fewer aeroplanes. Amongst the first models I built were a number of cars, so I'm sort-of going back to the beginning. I've choosen to model cars in a most unusual scale - 1/32, however i have been known to do the occasional 1/24 [1/25] and down to 1/87. Whatever scale suits my mood or needs. I prefer the old type cars, Vintage we call them, Antique to you. Why? because for the last 25 years I've been in a motorcar club which races & competes in pre-WW2 cars, and for over 30 years I was a journalist/photographer specialising in pre-1972 cars. Presently I live in a small seaside town called Donaghadee, in County Down, Northern Ireland. I was born in Chicago and my early years were there until I moved to N.I. nearly 50 years ago. So, thats me and what I model.
Chris White Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Welcome Fred, looking forward to seeing your builds.
James2 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Welcome to the show Fred. Perhaps you would like to share some of those photos?
fredk Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 Welcome to the show Fred. Perhaps you would like to share some of those photos? Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll certainly share any photos I have with anyone. I'll add any to the 'walk-around' reference section when I think they'll be useful. I must get used this forum first and see how it flows. This is no1 son playing in our vintage racing car; a 1930 Austin 7 Ulster; [posting the picture is also a bit of a check to see if the way I do it on other forums does here too] and Yes; plans are afoot to model this is 1/32 and 1/24th
Tom Geiger Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Cheers Fred and welcome to the board. If I send you my mailing address can you send me your Austin??
Shardik Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Welcome to the party, Fred. I understand the Austin 7 is a popular candidate for what people on your side of the pond call specials(?) (hot rods to us Yanks). I may have the wrong term, as I'm remembering it from a 12 year old magazine article.
Harry P. Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Welcome to the asylum! BTW... we also have a spot for your model planes if you'd like to show them. Scroll down to the "All the Rest" section...

fredk Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Welcome to the party, Fred. I understand the Austin 7 is a popular candidate for what people on your side of the pond call specials(?) (hot rods to us Yanks). I may have the wrong term, as I'm remembering it from a 12 year old magazine article. A special and a hotrod here are quite different animals. No-one who wants to stay this side of the daisies would attempt to hotrod an Austin 7, Welcome to the asylum! BTW... we also have a spot for your model planes if you'd like to show them. Scroll down to the "All the Rest" section... no, no no, ...........cars for car forums, aeroplanes for aeroplane forums and never the twain shall mix, ..............unless its an Aerocar, Thankyou for the welcomes
