curt raitz Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 In the #6 Issue of "Motor Racing Replica News" Nov/Dec 1991 is an article on how to use the Herb Deeks photo-etched wire wheel inserts with the Merit Alfa Romeo kit. Would be the same procedure for the Talbot. Problem is the magazine has been out of production for a long time. I do have a pdf.file of this issue I can send you via email...just message me if interested. Herb is a cool dude even though he lives in Southern California, he sells them on his eBay store for $19.00. Here is a link to them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wire-Wheel-trans-kit-1-25-photo-etch-Dayton-style-/161030046446?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item257e2382ee You are not gonna ever be happy with the clear spookie-thing!
Rossa156 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I have a set of Mr. Pinto's wheel/tires and they are beautiful. Yes, not for an old SMER or Merit kit. I plan to use them on an old Hawk Mercedes GP car from 1938. Here this will be worth it. Patrick
cobraman Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 Thanks guys. I think I found my answer. While searching ebay again I found a set of 4 PE wire wheels complete with tires. Only about 22 bucks with shipping. Just waiting for a reply about size before I order.
cobraman Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 This wip is being taken off the bench. Until I get some better wheels and tires I am going to hold off going forward with this kit.
kitbash1 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 10 bucks is nothing but the wheels and tires i found are about 25 bucks a pair and 10 bucks for shipping. That's 60 bucks ! I would love to make some wires myself but I don't have the talent for that. I bought the sets for my Talbot kit. Believe me, they are more than worth the cost and they'll improve the build 10 fold.
