Magic Photos Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Trying to get out of a rut, watching Comp1839's build and WOW. One of these days I will get it, thanks Dave for all you do for us on this group. I have decided to do the Flashpoint 63 Corvette Pro Mod, I will be making (hope) Jason Scruggs 63 Pro Extreme 63 Corvette. He is the ADRL National record holder. He is what I have so far, hope you enjoy this build as it goes along. Leave comments I need all the help I can get. Thanks Mike
Hawk312 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Looks like a great start! What scale are you working in?
Hawk312 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 1/16th scale thanks Dave Thanks Mike. Next time I will actually look at the title. Doh!
pharr7226 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Great job on the chassis. I really like the way you got the driver cage bars to mirror the shape of the body. This is going to be fun to watch.
comp1839 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 looks great mike! you've picked an incredible subject. scrugg's vette is just awesome.
Magic Photos Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Dave is the cage right, not sure. Thanks for everything.
John Pol Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Mike from the models I have seen you build you don`t need no help what so ever your models are A1 in my books. John Pol
Magic Photos Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Thanks John, trying to keep up with Dave a long way to go.LOL So many great builders on here.
Len Woodruff Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 This one will be great! Love the 63 Vette Pro Mods.
outkast1027 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 cage is spot on a good friend and fellow racer has one of his old vettes and is still running it today. not quite as fast as jason is but his cars are awesome pieces of equipment and some of the most top notch out there.
Speedfreak Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Mike, That Scruggs Vette is just beautiful, love the color. Good luck on the build, looks like you're off to a good start.
GoatGuy Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 A great looking car to build. I don't follow Pro Mod as much as I should, but I like the looks of this Vette. Some day I hope to build one. Looking forward to more updates.
PappyD340 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Awesome start Mike, just hanging around for more!!

Magic Photos Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Thanks Chris hope you had a great weekend, talk later.
TedsModeling Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 That chassis looks really clean, Mike. I can't tell if you fish-mouth the joints or not. Are you working off a set of plans or your own design?
Magic Photos Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Kind of working off Dave's (Comp1839) chassis. Notched the ends of the tubing. Thanks Ted.
Magic Photos Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Got some more work on the car today redid the cage area and some more uprights added. Got a hold of Garret Race Cars today and they will be sending me some detail shots of the correct chassis, maybe starting over on this build if it is too far off. LOL
comp1839 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) quote: "Dave is the cage right, not sure. Thanks for everything." hey, mike. glad to see the changes to the cage. the side bars were definitely not right. what you had before wasn't so "spot on" was it? also, what tubing diameter are you using? it looks a little thick. i was going to suggest you check out garret's site they had a few pics there but, just google " jason scrugg's new car" go to the pro modified u.s. site there are a ton of killer shots of this car. i think i have a few from 2012 adrl race too. if they'll help. when you get the pics from garret let me know. i have the sfi drawings for 25.1e and 25.2 chassis. i can help you out with tubing placement and diameter if it's not clear in the pics. you're definitely starting out on the right foot. don't let little setbacks get to you. there will be many........trust me. hehe. scratch built pro mod models are perhaps THE most difficult drag cars there are to build correctly. the chassis are complicated, the suspensions are complicated. the engines and drive train are complicated. PM me if you need anything. here's a link to pro modifieds u.s. :http://www.promodifieds.us/forums/showthread.php?t=20067 Edited November 11, 2013 by comp1839
Magic Photos Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 Thanks Dave so muck for the help on this, I have used 3/32 tubing and the more I look at it I should have used 1/16 tubing. Not to late to start again. The pics from the site helped a lot. Thank you for your imput it means a lot to me. Thanks Dave.
