Revell/AMT 56 Buick, 1.32nd

I just won this kit on a Swiss ebay-style site. I can't find a post-able photo but it has a blue and white car on the box and the double Revell/AMT logo. Does anybody know the history of this kit? I don't recall this being reissued but I've seen others with just the Revell logo so there was more than one version.

1956 Buick Roadmaster hardtop, first issued in 1956, run for perhaps a year or so and then dropped. It was reissued about 1960 or thereabouts (before Revell got serious about model car kits as we've come to know them in the early- middle 1960's as a custom version only.

Thanks a lot Art. What's with the Revell/AMT double logo? Was that the first or second issue?

I don't have the kit yet but from the auction photos it appears to be in such good condition that I thought it must be a 90s re-release like the 56 Ford and Cadillac that I have. That my final bid of $28 wasn't challenged had me convinced of that too. But it must me at least 53 years old then?

Thanks for that Casey - I read the thread at the time but had forgotten all about it (I'm 63).

So it looks like I've bought the original 1956 issue and the 1960 reissue would have dropped the AMT logo.

I'll post a pic or two when the kit arrives.

That (original issue) is the very first model car kit I ever owned and built!

The 56 Chrysler from this series was the first model car I built. It's now available in 1.25th so perhaps there's hope for the Buick.
