Jantrix Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I found this at work. Aside from a broken skid, it's in very good shape. Obviously missing the tail rotor and associated flaps/thingee's. Can anyone ID this kit so that might hunt up the needed parts to complete it. It is very well done, with no flaws in the glass. Some nice detail paining and drybrushing. It would be a shame to not see it completed again. Any help would be appreciated.
george 53 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) It's called a Kiowa, Light attack and obsv. helo. Sorry, it was a but after my time if I recall. Edited December 6, 2013 by george 53
Repstock Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 It's an OH-58 Kiowa. A D model or newer. The D model is when they went from 2 blade main rotor to 4 blade.
Exotics_Builder Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Sorry can't help, but I think you might also be looking for the kit manufacturer? Is that a 1/72 scale (based on pen next to it)? If you have scale, Squadron hobby online catalog might lead you to possible kits.
Jantrix Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 Yes I'm looking for the kit manufacturer. I don't build military so I've no idea of scale.
Erik Smith Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Italeri 1/72, it looks like. INFO Edited December 6, 2013 by Erik Smith
Chief Joseph Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Rob, that's an Academy/MRC 1/35 OH-58D. It's the "Thugs" issue. http://esm.wikia.com/wiki/MRC_1/35_Bell_OH-58D_Kiowa My buddy Floyd Werner Jr used to fly them and between the two of us, we produced some aftermarket resin and decals for that model.
Jantrix Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 Hmm................at 10.5 inches long it seems small for 1/35 scale.
Aaronw Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) It is a small helicopter. I've got the 1/72 scale Italeri OH-58D and it is only about 5" long nose to tail. Edited December 6, 2013 by Aaronw
DPink Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I believe standard armament was two Browning M2 .50 machine guns and two rocket pods attached to small wings on the side. If I get the chance I'll ask my shop teacher. He flew these for 10 or so years with the army in the late 80s and early 90s
