Ghostmech Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 This is the culmination of 30 years of neglect. I started this long ago, stopped and started a couple of times. Along the way I had to fix broken parts and some that were even damaged by being stored next to vinyl parts. Finally started to organize, fix and paint it... And it's finally done ... all out of the box (except the display)... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v132/Ghostmech/DSCF0328_zps098ce201.jpg

drodg Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Good job and I feel the pain as I have one or two projects like that.
peekay Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Excellent!!! Very fine, realistic detailing.
jrherald420 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Nice work, i think your base is almost too small for that model!
ZTony8 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) Question from left field-Did you decide to display the model with the raised body because it didn't fit on the completed tub very well? That's the problem I had when I built mine 30 years ago.I checked the fit throughout the build and it was fine until I finished the car. Then it didn't line up very well. For a long time I thought it might have been something I messed up but a few years ago I bought another one already built and it too had the same poor body fit. Ghostmech Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Hey Tony....no, it actually fit pretty good (as seen in the second photo) once I made adjustments and screwed it down. I made that display so I could show the mechanicals without having to have the body completely removed and sitting off to the side. It also makes for a smaller footprint on/in a display or contest table. This was a pretty tough build ...made worse by neglect and broken parts but it all worked out in the end. Thanks to all for looking and the kind words
