Nice train layout. My cousin has a 500 square foot layout that his father started fifty years ago, and he's just kept adding on to it.

As for me, trains are about the only thing I don't build.

My reintroduction to the hobby was through my daughters interest in WWII aircraft. From there I started building armor, then WWI aircraft. Cars are the majority of what I build now, but I have taken an interest in golden era racing planes and experimental aircraft lately.

I build mostly cars. My big interest is 1/16th scale Drag cars but I do build and have a lot of 1/24 1/25 scale cars in my collection. I also like to build some 1/43rd scale race cars. I also enjoy building customs, pro streets, I do want to get into weathering some cars.

I also have some aircraft and military models in my unbuilt collection that I would like to break out and build. I find that is is nice to change the pace and build something different at times

Currently I am in the middle of a highly detailed 1/16th scale funny car build and I have started two pretty basic builds a 1/25 &1/43 that won't have much detail to them because I just fill the need to complete a build since its been almost 3 years that I have completed a build since I started to build my 1/16th scale Army Vega Funny car build.

Well let's see. My current big hobby is modifying 1:24 scale electric trains and playing with them outdoors:

Of course, I can put cars in the scenes also:

Then there is the 1:32 scale slot car track:

How about 1:10 scale Radio Control F1 cars. I am fortunate to have a test team, also. A 9 yr old grandson (shown) and an 8 yr old granddaughter:

The above are all actively maintained, as well as an HO indoor train and an experimental magnetically steered 1:24 car and 3D printing of the outdoor railroad signs.

Some day I'm just going to have to learn to focus......

In addition to model car building over the past 50+ yrs, I've also been building both HO scale, and more recently, large gauge (1/24 scale) model trains - kits, kit-bashed, and scratch-built.

I've been planning to build a large 600+ sq ft HO model RR in my basement, but now that I have the space, both the cost & the time involved to undertake such a project, plus, competing for my time are my modeling interests in model cars, and more recently, in WW2 and Korean War era allied aircraft; consequently, I've relegated starting on such a large model RR on the 'back burner' - at least for the next few months. The main issue w/ creating a large model RR is money - or lack of it - as the costs have sky-rocketed over the past decade, and the hobby is fast becoming a rich person's pursuit. It also involves a huge amount of time to do justice to all but the smallest model RRs. I'm not sure if I can justify tying up so much funds in a model RR, esp w/ being semi-retired in the midst of a crappy economy. Besides, I'm having a terrific time getting back to working on models of mostly traditional rods & customs.

That's very impressive! You must have spent a small fortune on foliage alone!

You bet, Harry! That's why there are still large areas of the layout that look more like the desert southwest instead of southwest Virginia! :D

I build cars only. But, I wouldn't mind trying my hand at Gundams or other mecha if I could find kits that don't cost most of a $100 bill.

I build mostly agricultural, construction, industrial and automotive models in 1/24-1/25 scale. A lot of my models end up in dioramas. I also have a modest G scale outdoor train layout.

Only automotive builds for me.I've only ever built one plane(a Revell F4d Skyray) and that was about 50 years ago.I think I might have done one ship kit back then, too.I just have no interest in anything military or in commercial aircraft.

I confess to lately having a slight desire to do a Boss Mustang-as in P51 Mustang.Paint it a Grabber color and stripe it up just to be perverse.I just haven't convinced myself to do it yet.

I think a Titanic kit would be an easy build-Buy the kit, take it home, fill up the bath tub, open the box and shake parts into tub-model's done!

In addition to cars, I build alot of Sci-Fi and Mecha. Star Wars, Robotech, etc. Have some Battlestar Galactica stuff waitign to be built.

Most of my kits are old and unbuilt. I built this about 20 years ago. I've got another I'm going to try and do a better job at.

This is one of the first mecha I built, around 1987:

I am on modeling hiatus since a move to an apartment. Everything is in storage. However when I can build it is usually 1/25th cars or pickups. I do scratch-build 20's and 30's speedboats too, at least as long as my supply of mahogany lasts! It's getting harder to find.
