I've been considering building a new house.

What do you people think about my rough floor plans?

And here's a temporary arrangement & layout (Wife cage optional....)

I think the Garage is to small. The kitchen could be a bit larger so you could put her cage in there. :)

Oooh.... That's BAD! I said the cage was optional because my Wife loves it when I'm in the garage because:

1- She knows where I am

2- With me in the garage, I'm not around to annoy her

3- When my delinquent friends visit, she knows where WE are.....

4- The neighbors are used to me

5- And my Wife would be the first to run sandwiches and drinks out to us.

For example, here's my Wife enjoying an iced coffee and a (real...) NY bagel watching me work on the Barracuda back when it was going together.

There would be night's I was an hour past dinner, but she would let me work in the garage.

Although, I wouldn't mind a custom built house with a huge garage.

This is an actual real estate ad running in the back of National Dragster, the NHRA magazine:

"4,500 sq ft shop on 1 acre. 300 sq ft of living area. 14x24 doors. 220 electric, 8k lift. "

It's in Arizona near a new drag strip. $299,000 and it's your's.

Now that is a good woman(being a fellow red head helps) . You are a lucky man, maybe consider a big window in the kitchen looking into the shop.

Yes, I am a lucky man. And here's a funny story that is absolutely true:

Before we decided to stop renting it and move into the house we had a small co-op (apartment) and during the week parts would be shipped to my shop, and I'd bring them home. On weekends I'd bring these parts to the house where the car was stored. One morning my Wife comes out of the bedroom and trips over a box and almost goes through our glass-top coffee table. I help her up laughing..... She looks at me and, naturally, ask's why I was amused by her tripping and falling. I then explained to her the irony of her almost going through the coffee table tripping over my drive shaft SAFETY loop.

Fortunately, she "got it" and we had a good laugh. I'm not sure if she's ultra cool, or has given up on me.....

BTW: That same winter I had the dash for the Barracuda under the same glass-top coffee table. Great conversation piece when people would visit.

It's a nice start.

As it's become more and more apparent to me that I'll be a party of one (and not by choice, necessarily), the wife cage is something I don't need. I'd use that for a model display room.

I'm seriously contemplating building this someday. Just right. http://www.antiquehome.org/House-Plans/1920-Harris/M1000.htm

Of course, there's nothing in the rule book that says I can't do something similar to John's first floor-plan as an out-building....
