wrecker388 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 My dad had a 72 Olds Cutlass 442 when he met my mom. His car was a hardtop and it was not a W-30 (It was a W-32, though). What kits should I use to build it? Revell 72 Cutlass Convertible with roof from the AMT 69 Hurst Olds? Dad's car did have a 455 (not stock) so I don't have to worry about engine. Any help would be appreciated.
Guest Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Ron Hamilton built one when that kit first came out. I think he did a formal roof though. Maybe he'll chime in at some point. If he doesn't, just send him a PM.
Kris Morgan Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Check with Kevin at Missing Link resin Casters. He does a hardtop body for the Revell 72.
wrecker388 Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks for the replies guys! Kris, I would go that route but I've never done anything with resin before.
Kris Morgan Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Riley, When you deal with a high quality resin caster there really is not much difference. Missing Links stuff comes with the flash cleaned up and pinhole free.
ChrisPflug Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Sounds like the original post was looking for a regular hardtop rather than the formal "Supreme" style- JoHan made a '72 as well as their more commonly found '70 442- and the '72 specific parts available in resin -Maybe can be kitbashed with some better detailed stuff from the Revell ? The JoHan body seems to make a nice looking 442
DrKerry Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 A friend of mine made a pretty nice one using the roof off of a 70 Monte Carlo.
w451973 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Just buy the Johan 70 442 kit and the resin 72 hood and bumpers.
Casey Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Just buy the Johan 70 442 kit and the resin 72 hood and bumpers. ^^ Your best option for building the fastback hardtop right now. Only a formal roof hardtop body is available in resin currently.
