I tried to redo the two tone paint, but I made a mess of it. Its sitting in "The Dip" now.

I did get most of the engine done, but I lost the oil filter, may have to make one.

A two-tone split-line right on the edge of those wheel flares makes masking problematic. Maybe something more like the Bobby Allison BRE Datsuns?

I'm a little confused, but am interest in playing along... I read the first page but don't understand how this works...

is it too late to join the game?

Edit:

OK, I've reread the first page... makes much more sense now... just build a car that was produced prior to '79.... that sounds easy.

Is it too late to join the fun though?

Thats what I was trying to do. I should've stripped the paint in the first place, but I primered over the blue, then hit it with white again. After I painted the blue again, the masking tape messed up the second coat of white.

Short cut turned into a long cut.

We're 13-days into an 11-month build. We're still at the beginning so feel free to jump in with a contender Jesse. Show us your starting point then have fun.

Sweet! I'll be building a '68 Dodge Charger.

Dumb question though.... does it have to take all 11 months? What if I finish in 2?

Sorry for the dumb questions.... new here still.

So here it is... I was waiting to start this one, but I just cant wait til my '55 Chevy gasser is done...

Anyway, it started life out as a Revell Dick Landy's '68 Dodge Charger. My friend got out of model building years ago and gave me everything he had. This included a LOT of poorly built cars that someone tried to build when he was out of town, broken cars, and unbuilt cars.

Amongst them was the '55 Chevy that I started, and this Charger which was started and unfinished.

So, to preface this, I'm a big fan of Hot Rod Magazine, and they do youtube videos called Roadkill which are freaking awesome... so, they did a video recently of them building an extremely bare bones '68 dodge charger that was built to handle anything... and here it is in all of it's awesomeness!

You can build in 24hrs if that's your thing. The important thing though is that you submit your completed photos when they are called for after December 1st. Then they'll be voted on. If you finished your model early and showed it in all it's glory here, Under Glass, or wherever, it's still not entered for the vote if you don't show up at the "starting line" after 12/1.

I think treaded tires and a more appropriate engine would be a good start.

EDIT- Nevermind, I see the tires ARE treaded. Good work.

Rob ,I just had that engine laying on my deck :) I've stuck in a lot of mock up's and haven't used it yet .Not sure what I will put in it yet haven't got that far ,but I was thinking about a turbo straight six .

Here's a funny thing. One of the themes we discussed before Nick started this years CBP, was Cannonball Run: Canada. Your build would have been perfect for that one. :D

Yeah, A few years back we did a 1981 theme that also restricted the tech you could use. It became problematic for some builders and I think we turned off a few would-be participants that were'nt into all the research required. So I think Nick made the right call this year.

The Torino gets a fender treatment. I'm flaring the rear fenders using a technique I learned on this forum. Making one slice and pulling the fender out is troublesome if you don't make a vertical split because as the fender comes out the plastic doesn't really stretch, so it also bows in the body behind the pulled fender.

I originally tried slicing the top of the fender but that started messing up the sail panel and was a harder area to work in.

Is that the High Roller Camaro with different wheels?

Yes it is. I bought a parts kit and piecing it together.

The wheels/tires are from the Monogram "Mad Mudder" Chevy Blazer..

I may just find something more streetable..

I'm aiming for shortcuts.. ;)

Okay here's my obligatory starting pic. I'm going to cobble together a small block with a centrifugal supercharger. Get it low with some 17" rims and racing tires. Gonna use the twin scoop hood. Like I did with my Stude, a Cannonballer into a Carrera Panamericana racer, this will be my Cannonballer and then get full Pikes Peak racing livery afterward. I know it's not terribly exciting, I'm thinking a simple white or pale silver color. I'll start it right after the 24 hour build off in two weeks.

I found the wheels I want to use for my Charger... but I'm missing more parts to this kit than I thought :(

Missing a front wheelback, interior tub and both side interior panels, steering column, steering wheel, both front spindles, steering linkage, and rear end w/ leaf springs and extended shocks. If someone has extras, please let me know.

Below, Some of the parts on the trees on top turned out to be to the Revell '67 GTX... since all these parts were mixed up in a giant box when I got them, I thought they were for the charger 2'n'1 initially, but after several parts box searches and sorting, I've turned up nothing.. theyve vanished in thin air. Along w/ a complete '67 Charger body/chassis... yet I have interior panels for it.
