Scottnkat Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Here is my build of Bill Elliott's Melling Ford Thunderbird. This was the car he drove when I first noticed him, before he was known as, "Awesome Bill from Dawsonville". The kit was an old one without a box or decals. The decals were old Slixx decals. They were in terrible shape and disintegrated once they hit the water, so some of these had to be re-done by yours truly. The "9" on the side of the car were a bit on the large side, but I can't print white, so I worked with it and made them fit.
PappyD340 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 NICE build Scott!! I started following Bill in 1976 when I saw him for the first time in the Carolina 500 at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham, NC and followed him through his entire career.
o-man Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Great looking T-bird. I assume you lowered it some?
bbowser Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I love this "squarebird" Scott! Folks like the Elliots and the Mellings stuck it out through the lean years and were rewarded when Ford restyled the T-bird in 1983 and blew away the rest of the field. Great model!
bogger44 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Great job on Bill's squarebird. Well done.
Old Coyote Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Very nice "Square Bird" ............. beautiful work
james460 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 nice job Scott. The paint layout for that car has kept me from ever trying that car. You nailed it.
TooOld Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Great looking build Scott ! He won his first race in a similar car at Riverside .
