fun9c1 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I did this about 20 years ago but never really finished it 100%. I just busted it out of storage to finish it up. The can of blue spray paint I used is long gone (don't remember what it was) and the hood was sanded down, so I just shot it with primer. I think I might leave it like that! In fact I was thinking about maybe shooting one front fender with primer too for a "I just got in a fender bender and I'm working on it" look. I think this was my 1st or 2nd chop job. I also smoothed out the sides and made tailights out of a clear red tree, and made them flush with hte body. Frenched the headlights, and lowered it. The only thing left that HAS to be done is to install hte windshield. It's already cut to fit, I'm not sure why I never glued it in. Oh yeah, I will also foil the windshield trim and do the wipers. I'm on the fence on installing the fender skirts. I love the wheels so much I hate to cover them up, but it probably does look better with 'em. What do you guys think?
PappyD340 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I think it looks great as is, I wouldn't put any skirts on it if it were mine!!
John Goschke Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Cool! I like what you did with the taillights and the metallic blue is a great color for the car. Chalk up another vote for no skirts. As a general rule cars with a forward rake (low in front) look better without skirts. Rearward rake or "taildraggers" (low in back) look good with skirts.

I never thought about it before, but now that you mention it, that's very true on the skirts. No skirts it is!
