looks nice but just curious why you say its better than the Tamiya kit? I do know the roof is easier to paint in a prototypical way using this Revell version, but what else have you noticed? ive built a few Tamiya ones and haven't ever noticed anything too drastically wrong with them aside from some tricky masking if you want to be nuts on accurate. I would like to try one of these Revell Germany versions just to know!

I've just started on a Tamiya one, and from what I can tell the roof on it looks to be better sofar for the proper 2 color paint job. That lip is super easy to mask. However the interior and firewall leave something to be desired. Seam placement on the Tamiya kinda sucks, looks better on the Revell. Interior on the Tamiya is kinda goofy as well.

I'll have to grab some reference as for accuracy but as near as I can tell the differences in size and shape of some items as well as the suspension will vary based upon which exact year from everything I've read, though I know you did not touch on any accuracy issues.

Happy to see another Mini being started right after I started mine. I want to build a small fleet of mini's so interested to see how this one goes together. Tamiya is 21 bucks at the LHS, the Revell is close to 50. I'm not quite ready to drop that much extra coin for for it yet.

Taymia is a very good kit, but the engine is better in revell whit sparkplug vires , carburators , air cleaner ,decal sheet is very good on this kit. Interior you can bulit. LHD and RHD. Chassi and extrior trim is nearly the same

In my opinion the Revell's wires are over scale.

The LHD would be VERY nice, but including spark plug wires in a kit is trivial for me. I'm wiring my Tamiya engine, using a bit of leftover detail master wire I had from a distributor kit for my Mustang Cobra.

The carbs are ok, but the aircleaners do suck in the Tamiya kit.

Actually, any Mini should be able to swap from RHD to LHD and back again, especially the Mk I and II Mini. The "Full Size" or Actual Size" was manufactured with that in mind. They were exported to lots of countries that drive on either side of the road.

The box art shows left-hand drive. Does the kit offer both LHD and RHD?

I love these old Mini's!

I still see a few of them nipping about around London. My wife had an old one, when we met in '87. It was great fun and really easy to fix when it went wrong.

My sister had a late '70's 1275 GT. that little thing went like a rocket down country lanes, but was a bit noisy on the motorway.

You sit low in these cars and it always feels like you're doing 40mph more than your actual speed!

There was a similar car, called a Riley Elf. My wife's mother had one of those. It's got a vertical grille and an extended trunk with pointed-top rear lights. Check it out on Google.

I've thought about building the Tamiya Monte Carlo Rally version, but I'd be interested to see how this Revell version turns out.

Is your mini damaged? It looks like the left A-pillar is bent.

thanks for the run down on the differences. as you say the Revell one is 2X in cost but if there is improvement maybe its worth it.

I have been in London a few times in the past 10 years and I was amazed how many of the original cars I saw running around the admittedly tony neighborhood I was in. but they seemed to be all over the place. correct side drive of course

In my mini research I found the Elf was actually the same car underneath. As was the Welesely. Same platform.
