Sad to announce the passing of model car builder Doug Moorehead. Doug was a long time builder and a fellow club (DMCC) member. Doug was a proud member of the Downriver Model Car Club and rarely missed a meeting. Doug died at his home Sunday at age 67. The meetings will not be the same without you, you will be missed. I am glad that I had the chance to know Doug. RIP Doug.

This story is more tragic than Kris mentioned. It seems that Doug was attacked in his apartment and stabbed to death. Some of Doug's personal posessions were taken as was his car which was later found on a Detroit side street. The suspect was arrested.

Was trying to leave the details out Tony. No harm done though. Adding to this is the fact that Doug was both mentally and physically challenged. I tell ya, it is a sad world we live in sometimes.

Sad.

Doubly sad that we still have wretched morons on this planet who have nothing better to do than destroy good people.

It;s just sad that someone would do something like that to a person in that condition. I really hope that the creep gets life in prison and not something stupid. RIP Doug,I'm sure he's at the big workbench in the sky building on.

Couldn't say it any better myself.

May there be a nice cold cell in this cretin's permanent future.

What most bothers me is that the suspect, who was described as a homeless pan handler, will,if convicted, end up with three hots and a cot.He should be forced to serve the sentence outside in winter.Meanwhile, poor Doug, who never harmed anyone,is gone.

I concur.

I have sent a few folks away for life in my career. Regardless, nothing I did, as hard as I worked, ever brought the victim back.

I don't know the details but i'm probably guessing he invited the bas**** in from the kindness of his heart (known many to do so) and was taken advantage of. Rest in peace my friend

Dave-We in the club think that's precisely what happened-Doug befriended the suspect while the suspect was panhandling by a local freeway near Doug's residence.Doug was that kind of guy. There was an update in yesterday's paper about the case that said that Doug begged the suspect to stop choking him-before he stabbed him in the chest with a kitchen knife.
