There don't seem to be too many, but I have been going to a few for a while. For something kind of similar to the ModelCarsMag forums http://www.boat-links.com/ or http://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index is good. http://www.rcgroups.com/scale-boats-55/ is for R/C boats. http://www.taubmansonline.com/ has plans for scratch-building. Hope this gives you a start!

I'll second the Model Warships forum - I'm a member there. I'm fairly new to the ship modeling scene, and my main interest is mainly submarines. (That's where my screen name comes from - SSN for nuclear submarine, Jim is my given name.) The site is quite useful and active, and the other users helpful and friendly.

I don't really build ships but do like to build 1/25th or 1/24th scale speed and pleasure boats when I can find them?...been looking for the AMT Chris Craft boat and trailer kit for awhile now to add to the collection.

Modelwarships is the forum I'm part of.

It's a good site if your into plastic, details, or good tips and tricks.

It's kind of like this forum except for water. LOL

I've been a rc scale ship builder for 30+ years now. Love rc groups (THE GOON), and Model Boat Mayhem in England (Mark W.). I'm getting back into plastic kits, and I going to build the Italeri LCM3 landing craft for the "All The Rest" community build starting here on Feb. 1st.

Philo426,

If I scratch build a hull out of wood, I fiberglass the outside, then coat the inside with thined out resin. If I'm working with a commerical glass hull, then it's no problem. The model on the left is a ABS vacuformed hull, and the larger tug is a epoxyglass hull. The larger tug is 80" X 15" X 11", and weighs 165 lbs in the water (40 lb model, 125 lbs battery/ballast). I enjoy working in 1/12th scale.
