Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I found this very old picture and had it scanned. The models are long gone, unfortunately. I built them as a very young kid. I think I was 6 or 7 years old. My mother gave them to me, along with some brushes and paints. I remember that crystal clear now. You can see in the picture a AMT '57 Ford, my favorite, a Monogram '56 Chevrolet, and just a piece of a Testors '48 Ford coupe. That one was the last I built and it was a MES!!! Just one door would open, and it was all brush painted black. From the three, the only one I haven't built again is the '48, but I managed to find one. Still finding courage to face the multi piece body. First Builds? by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
slusher Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Those look good to be built so young. I remember when I built that young they didn't look so great until I was about 10...
rmvw guy Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 They look as good as what I am building now at 63. How appropriate to have them next to the play ground. Thanks for sharing.
Erik Smith Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) That is cool. I don't think I have ever seen an old photo with any of my old models - even though I had one wall covered with built kits. My memories of how good they looked are probably completely distorted too…I am pretty sure they didn't look as good as yours, though. I still have problems getting clean glass, and you were doing it at age 6? Edited January 20, 2014 by Erik Smith
realgone58 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 We all started somewhere. Those look better than my first ones!
Joker Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 You are a builder Tulio. I believe the (new) '48 Ford will be just fine. The two Union / IMC / Testors '48 Fords in my build pile, got built into customs, and one of them was a gluebomb ! I say . . . Go for it !
