Chuck Most Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Just a quick little project- AMT's new '10 RS/SS Police kit. I used the second set of graphics instead of the "kinda/sorta" CHP graphics shown on the box, and I left off the flashers on the push bar. I still might detail paint the wheels, but for a few evenings of work, not too bad I dare say.
chadrob30 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Turned out great. I will get one of these soon...
o-man Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Looks great! Did the light bar come that way or did you paint it? Either way, it looks good.
slusher Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Looks sharp Chuck, very nice work. I have one I have not started yet...
Harry P. Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Looks cool, but those wheels are way too blingy for a cop car. Paint them black...
Chris White Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I am with Harry, it would look better with black wheels, otherwise its perfect
Curt Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I like the wheels as they are! Nice build and a perfect title to your post...
Chuck Most Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 Thanks guys! Looks great! Did the light bar come that way or did you paint it? Either way, it looks good. The bar is two pieces- both molded in clear plastic. What you see in the pic is Bare Metal foil, and Tamiya clear red, clear blue, flat aluminum, and semigloss black. Looks cool, but those wheels are way too blingy for a cop car. Paint them black... I've seen a few police Camaros, and all but a handful of them have the polished wheels. A few do have the black base model wheels, but more have the satin-finish aluminum wheels.

slusher Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 The wheels look great chrome. Black wheels would not look good on it...

A few do have the black base model wheels, but more have the satin-finish aluminum wheels. I guess the cops where you live are a little flashier than the cops here. I don't remember ever seeing a police car (municipal, county or state) with either polished or chrome wheels like that.
Danno Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Nice. Camaros almost always look good in law enforcement livery. Too bad the kit is so deficient in proper equipment. Most of the police vehicles around here ~ and the Camaros haven't shown up yet, but probably wouldn't be any different ~ are split about 2/3 with the black drilled steel wheels with little caps and 1/3 with entry-level unpolished satin-finish alloy spoke wheels.
Greg Cullinan Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Looks good. These camaros look great as police cars.

Dr. Cranky Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I can see a cop taking pride in his wheels. I like this build.
Davewilly Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Looks cool I got that kit for Christmas...now I just have to build it.
