BSB Racing Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 What do most of you guys use to fill in minor gaps, imperfections etc.? Don't tell me a tube of Garlitis either!
randx0 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I use glazing putty for small imperfections ,or the old standby a tube of Garlitis .
PowerPlant Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 How about plain old, purpose-made modelling putty? I prefer Tamiya products
randx0 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 You can also use plastic melted in liquid glue consistency is up to you the more plastic you add the thicker it becomes . Acrylic nail filler can also be used for a strong bond in gaps .
Belugawrx Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 squadron white fast dry it takes a wet sanding after 20-30 mins
Jantrix Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Future and talcum works well as does Liquid Paper correction fluid.
ZTony8 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I recommend the Tamiya putty. It's lacquer based, dries smooth and sands well.I won't completely dismiss Testor's putty, though. It's surprisingly good for use on resin bodies.I used it to fill voids on some 1/43rd resin builds years ago and the filled areas have never shrunk or popped loose.
Erik Smith Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Depends on how minor. I use CA glue to fill small cracks and ejector pin marks. Hit the CA with accelerator and you can sand in a few minutes. For very light joints, I use Mr Surfacer 500, which is just a thick primer.
jaymcminn Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Gap-filling CA with accelerator for gaps that need extra strength reinforcement. Bondo professional (2-part) glazing and spot putty for sink marks and contouring.Sometimes I'll "weld" thin styrene strip into wide gaps using Tenax. It all depends on the application.
