Howdy all,,,I was looking at this AMT kit,,69' Daytona Charger,,and wanted to do something a bit different with it. And I was looking at some late 60's Charger FC/AWB cars on the web,,and ran across these pics of some. Now,,when I look at these pics,,it appears that some of these were no more than stock Chargers { at least the red one, color pic,the other 2 BW pics look like full framed cars} w/some x-tra inner frame/roll bar work,,and its almost like they cut the front clips off and welded/attached ,,somehow,,a FC subframe to the front clip area,,not sure really how they did it,,Ill have to research some more pics and see how they were really attached to front of car. I do have an injected 426 w/stacks ect for this build,,so it may be fun to try this. Heres some pics,,happy building!IMG_2971_zps3435ad0a.jpgIMG_2924_zpsf9af6fea.jpgIMG_2926_zpsfa278401.jpgIMG_2927_zps4a710022.jpgIMG_2963_zpsa7f02e84.jpgIMG_2966_zps49b8fed9.jpgIMG_2970_zpsa8df9b44.jpgIMG_3055_zpsb085dc3a.jpgIMG_3068_zpsd6b7acdb.jpg

The b/w pic.with the hilborn inj stacks looks like a 67 AWB,"altered wheel base" the fender wells in the front and back are all moved forward! I don't know how you could do this? Fill in the back half of the fender then cut the front half out; hum..ill look around maybe someone else has done this,,tough job,,

Hey guys thanks for the info,,and visiting. Yea,,there was a experimenting period around this time of Drag racing thats for sure. I probably wont alter the wheel well placement,,I kindof like the Red car setup,,looks home built out of some privateer drag guys garage that nobodys ever heard of,,I think those type of builds end up being the wildest,,and interesting. I remember somebody on this board a while back built a really highly detailed Daytona Charger FC/Pro-mod type of car,,cant recall who it was but it was an Amazing Build. Ill have to keep lookin at stuff on the web,,BTW these pics are from Vince Putt Page on fotki,,hes got a huge collection of drag race pics,,Im not sure if he was a driver,,or builder? Maybe someone knows who he was /is? But by the time its all said and done,",there will be injection stacks sticking out of the lower windshield on this, a tilt nose frontend.,,,and that Iconic "wing" on the back of it" :D

Thanks for the views/kind words ,,yea it will be a bit of research to figure out how to do this,,probably a purpose built chassis that runs thru the entire length of car,,,,and with the tubbing work over the back wheels,,driver would be in the center,,etc. chopped/ lowered top,,++ , but have the stock firewall, with some frame supports coming from the top of firewall down to front lower chassis,,and a tilt nose front end. Gotta finish my 41 Woody first! LOL Thanks for visiting.

Hi all,,so ,,ok heres starting point, A,,,,Im gonna use a Willie Borsch chassis, and x-tra roll cage add ons to it ect. ,Cut the frame right at the firewall,,and will have to fab,,or use leftover front section of borsch chassis, for frame work in the engine bay area, and a straight front axle,,the shock set up off the borsch car should work{ it looks similar to the red car setup} . Now,,the black lines on the charger body are where Im chopping it off,,and gonna do some "custom" body work,,lol. Similar to the Beach City Vette FC,,but different. Driver in the center of chassis. And cut the front clip out for one pc tilt front end,,if the nose front allows clearance when tilted forward,,itll be close. And a 426 Injected Hemi of course.,,with giant injector stacks,,lol Cheers

Howdy all,,finally got to do some experimenting w/the body work,,not sure if this will be final design,,got to putty +sand corners and such. The wing on the trunk deck will have an extra 2 blades inside it,,matching the profile of the exsisting top blade,,may have to make them adjustable,,gotta be able to tweak the downforce! LOL..Will have to do alot of filling +sanding on the lower side of nose pc,,the kit came with these things called " body fillers" little panel type things,,but no matter how you put them on,,doesnt quite get it. Ill just fill+sand putty And a tilt nose front,,if possible,,and the back 1/2 of body will lift up also, like a FC,,so well see where it goes happy building! :D

And a bit more done on the front nose. Found a lower air dam wing for front,,looks cool on there,,and the pic of the chassis makes me understand why pro chassis builders make so much $$!! I had to open up clearance for rear tires,,and trimmed the whole width, of chassis,,,also found some cool rims for it. Just have to work up some rear wheel tubbing,,and x-tra roll bar/driver frame supports,,and should be good to go,,so,,, Happy building!

Hi all,,Just an update post,I posted it a few weeks ago,,but its coming along a ways,,and thought a new view might be cool. It started as a Experimental late 60's-early 70's FC,,and it somehow evolved into a "flat-topper" flopper. Much like the "Flying Dutchman" car of the era. Odd cars,,but kindof neat to have a model of one,,not sure if there were any kits made of this type. Got all the tilt nose set-up,,as the rear half of body will lift up like a reg FC. Those were the big ones to figure out,,once all that is worked up,,the rest is a breeze. So,,thanks for lookin,,and keep up the great stuff youall got out there. :DIMG_2984_zps0e453035.jpgIMG_2981_zpsfcb5b1db.jpgIMG_2992_zps18e6a9c8.jpgIMG_2991_zpsf2b9584c.jpgIMG_2988_zps2a9c8311.jpgIMG_2982_zpsfca5bf5d.jpg

Thanks guys,,I tried to delete the 1st post about this that I put up a few weeks ago,,so Im not taking too much data space on the board but couldnt figure out how. I was looking at the "Dutchman" FC,,what a wild car he built,,it probably handled like a rock when going down the 1320,,he also did one that looks alot like a vette,,he called it the "Charger III" which there is a kit of,,Ive never got a chance to purchase one,,but its out there. I got the lettering sheet a few days ago for the name + graphics on the side,,and doing the plumbing+ wiring over the next few days,,and then on to the cockpit controls+ pedals ect,,ect. Thanks for the comments,,enjoy all of you guys builds also,,Cheers! :D

Thanks DR K,,yea if I had $$ for aftermarket fittings,,braided lines,,Photo etched parts ect it would be a bit better,,but all this is from the junk parts bx. And its the first time Ive cut a front end for a tilt,,but it will work,,Ive already got the swivels set up for the body lifts/tilts. It should turn out ok,,thanks for the views+ comments. Happy building :D

Thanks slusher,,just a mention,,you all have some great builds also,,and if it seems like Im not commenting on everybodys builds its only because Im at my bench workin things up,,not trying to ignore others. :) I was trying to find a flat top Charger daytona FC of some type that a model kit co has produced,,at any time,,just to see whats out there,,I know of some resin body co's that have a few flat top FC IE Beach city vette,,a dart flatop,,but I couldnt find anything like a Daytona Flatop car. I saw a 1:1 car called the "Nitro-charger",,and a "Superbird" pro-mod car,,but not much else. Im surprised,,if anyone knows of such a creature,,feel free to post a pic in this thread,,Id like to see it,,thanks again you all,,happy building! :D

Thanks DR,,yea i try to "make" fuel meter blks,,injector feed rails,,linkage throttle stuff, and whatever the rig might need, from the junk bx. I should do a post on how to "make' some of this stuff but dont want to overload the board, someday Ill spend a bit of $$ for some "real" components,,I made the dash from the stock dash,,just cut it to the width of the driver area,,the front axle is from the jnk bx,,but the shock tower setup is from the Willy borch AA/FA kit,,as is the driver section of roll cage,,the rest is my design. Scratch built entire front clip/mtr bay area. I know thats more info than needed,,but some may wonder how some of it was done. Thanks again,,happy building :D
