Agent G Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 We had an episode of the "Dead Files" recorded. Amy Allan speaking to the dead was a lot more exciting than that game. G
Greg Cullinan Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks and their fans. I think it was a good game and a well deserved win.
ScaleDale Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Even though I'm a Seattle fan, I felt sorry for Manning. I don't watch AFC games, so I don't know the caliber or defense over there, but the Broncos weren't prepared for what the Seahawks had to offer them. They call the Hawks secondary the Legion of BOOM. Now everyone understands that. The fight in the team is an extension of their fan base: Joint Base Lewis McCord Whidbey Island Naval Air Station Bangor Submarine Base Bremerton Naval Station Everett Naval Station Dale
Harry P. Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 I'm blaming the whole thing on Willy Joe. He botched the coin flip. Denver was toast from then on! Yeah, that was pretty funny. So was Namath's coat!
Harry P. Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 So... any of the commercials stand out to you? I don't remember very many... not a good year for good commercials, they were all pretty forgettable. Maybe the goofiest one (and so the one I remember!) was the German engineers who get their wings every time a VW hits 100,000 miles. That one I remember... not much else.
Jantrix Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Defense wins games and the Seahawks proved that tonight. Peyton could not get it going early on and Seattle was relentless on defense. Pretty much the entire game Peyton was rattled. He had the look of a guy in a cage with 11 tigers, with a pork chop tied around his neck. Congrats to the Seahawks and their fans for an amazing game. It was enjoyable to watch. I thought for a while it would be the first Superbowl shutout.
Ramfins59 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 For me, the best commercial was Chrysler's with Bob Dylan.
Danno Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah. Well. My team didn't even show up. Don't know who the imposters were, but they d@ng sure weren't the AFC Champion Broncos. Just unbelievable that they wasted THAT season with THAT one non-performance! Two teams beat the Broncos yesterday, the Pond Chickens AND themselves. Looked like the classic example of believing your own press so much you left your A and B games at home. Best moment of the game? When the clock FINALLY reached 00:00. At least there's always Next Year. Commercials? Well, of course the obligatory Clydesdale and puppy ad was a winner, but the top two had to be the VW 'Wings' and the Chevy truck 'Bringing You Love.' Both hysterical and attention-grabbing! PS: Quick reminder for Seattle fans: Don't get too arrogant. Don't forget it was the much-maligned Arizona Cardinals that whipped yer heinies in yer own house!
Lownslow Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 couldve cared less was waiting for top gear to come out
Pete J. Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah, that was pretty funny. So was Namath's coat! Dude, that coat was, ah like so totally 60's man!
tubbs Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Defense wins games and the Seahawks proved that tonight. Peyton could not get it going early on and Seattle was relentless on defense. Was hoping for a close game, as did a bunch of companies that paid millions for commercials! I don't know Mike, that offense won 13 games...... just not the right one. I cant figure out if Denver looked that bad or Seattle looked that good? congrats Seahawks..... now, let's go TRIBE!!
tubbs Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I was watching the Puppy Bowl on a TV next to the Super Bowl. It was more enjoyable. my wife was watching some sort of kitten bowl.... pretty funny.

Was hoping for a close game, as did a bunch of companies that paid millions for commercials!Mike, got to disagree with you on that one. Defense doesn't win games they loose game. I have seen plenty of great defensive teams and they keep the game close but without a good offense you just can't win. I think a lot of people are shortchanging the Seaslugs offense. They put up more points against Denver that anyone all season. You got to have both sides to win consistently. Perhaps their defense has been a shining star but the offense also scored a lot of points this year.
Erik Smith Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 For me, the best commercial was Chrysler's with Bob Dylan. I thought it was a good commercial - but hugely (is that a word) ironic. All about America and heritage etc. - from an Italian owned company! I liked the Dorritos ad near the end - the one where the kid rides the Mastiff - that's a clone of my dog.
Harry P. Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 True all that Pete said. Except the part where he said Defense doesn't win games, they loose games. I've seen close games, I've seen blowouts... but I don't remember ever seeing a loose game.

High octane Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I like the Doritos commercial as well Eric. LOL!
Harry P. Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Well, the game may have sucked (unless you were rooting for Seattle)... but I just heard it was the most watched Superbowl EVER. 111 million viewers. Actually the most watched single television program. EVER. Hey, what is an extra "o" among friends. At my age, I lucky to get the words out at all!
slusher Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I stopped watching the game after the puppy and Doritos commercial and started watching the walking dead...
Harry P. Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 I stopped watching the game after the puppy and Doritos commercial and started watching the walking dead... You didn't miss much. And the halftime show stunk big time. A Superbowl in New Jersey? Hey, here's a clue, NFL... Bruce Springsteen. Heck, I'd have settled for Bon Jovi. Or even Southside Johnny.
High octane Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Over 100 million viewers and the game was the ONLY game in town. Yet at half-time there were four MONKEYS in suits reporting what everyone just saw. There were no other games to report on and of course those morons got paid for their stupid report. After the game. of course they had a post-game report also. Is that lame or what??? When the clock ran out, the 2013/2014 football season was OVER! There was NO need for any report of any kind about the game we just saw, and keep in mind the monkeys in suits are EX football players, nothing more. Many of the viewers were ex pro football players, ex college football players, ex high school football players, and even ex little league football players as well, so it's not like there were millions of idiots watching the game. What a joke! It's no wonder I sometimes "mute" the sound when watching sports on TV.
Agent G Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I dread going on tomorrow. I have 22 pages of Super Bowl prop bets on my desk. After the first play, all bets should have been off. I would however, liked to have been a fly on the wall in Floyd Mayweather's house. Mike Tyson is a neighbor, so I will ask him if he knows how Floyd dealt with the reported $10.2 million loss. heheheheheheheheheheheheh G
slusher Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 You didn't miss much. And the halftime show stunk big time. A Superbowl in New Jersey? Hey, here's a clue, NFL... Bruce Springsteen. Heck, I'd have settled for Bon Jovi. Or even Southside Johnny. On CNN they said it was one of the best ever halftime shows. I didn't get what little of it I saw. There was no instruments plugged. Now they say some was prerecorded...
Harry P. Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 On CNN they said it was one of the best ever halftime shows. CNN is crazy.
