FASTBACK340 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Actually that little piece of tin is a performance enhancer. It keeps the hot oil off the manifold, and the "air gap ", as it's marketed, cools the intake charge. Regardless, this is a neat build!
Mopar - D Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks for the information on the valley pan I've fixed mine with some tape to get the same thickness as tin used. Made progress on painting the engine, chassis and the body.
Furiousgeorge Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Love that color! Looks great on the old Polara! I've always liked the full sized MoPars, just had tons if class.
FASTBACK340 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Your killing me…. that's the color of the one I wrecked when I was a kid.
yellowsportwagon Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I love this build. My grandpa had a 68 Polara the same color blue with a white vinyl top and a blue interior. Had a 383 2 bbl engine.
charlie8575 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Very nice, Dan. Did that come with an interior? What are you using for a chassis? Charlie Larkin
slusher Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Beautiful color Dan, and the engine is coming along nicely...
Mopar - D Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Charlie I'm using the 64 Lindberg Belverdere chassis and yes it did come with a interior with nice detail. The detail is better than the old JoHan interiors as this one even has power window switches.
Mopar - D Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Worked on sanding the body and painted the interior today.
Mopar - D Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 I've sanded the body smooth it's now ready for the clear coat was able to wire up the engine and sprayed the interior.
disabled modeler Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I like it!...its big long and bad!
dbbycreations Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Brings back memories of the big boat era, looks great !!
Mopar - D Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 Was able to get some time at the bench today. I added some BMF and blade paint to the interior and this is the clear coat drying.
Mopar - D Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks Carl the clear coat is drying very slow the weather is not helping with high humidity here.
FASTBACK340 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Nice paint Dan! I love this build, as it's way cool. Color looks excellent on that body. Looking forward to updates.
Mopar - D Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Made a little progress today with adding the fan belts and after checking the wheel base again I found that that I needed to add 8" so I cut the chassis and started adding the filler.
Mopar - D Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Little more progress I sanded the clear coat smooth and added a 2nd coat of clear I added to much to the chassis so I removed some and now have it right. Added more chassis parts and worked on the wheels and front grill stilll have more work on the front grill needs some argent silver also added some BMF on the seats. Your comment and suggestions are welcome.
Crusader101 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 This is certainly a gem! Really enjoying your progress. Did the wheelcovers come with the kit?
