Kennyboy Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) Found this Acura NSX Revell Snaptite built at a swapmeet. Bought it for $10. It was red with the factory wheels/tires and very little detail.....but it was clean so I had to have it! I immediately dis-assembled it and began the details starting with the engine that was originally painted all silver. Ended up painting it like the Type R NSX which I felt fit the build direction better. Next, I went after the lifeless chassis to add the needed look of alloy that was not quite there.... as well as adding brakes (which the Snap tite did not have) I used the rotors/calipers from the Revell Enzo and painted them like Project Mu stoppers. Almost forgot the TE37's I added from a recent trade! Next task was to change the lifeless engine cover to that of the Type R NSX...... I used the original cover for only a sizing tool, then I made the new cover from sheet acetate and installed stainless steel screen material into it. Edited February 24, 2014 by Kennyboy
Kennyboy Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) I made some new lenses for the backup lights in the rear taillight section.....this was a pain to fit into it without having any gaps. Current state of the model is in etching primer.......but I am thinking of doing it Imola Orange with a black top. Edited February 7, 2014 by Kennyboy

MsDano85gt Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 pretty neat! what brand kit is that? that engine looks super detailed for being a "snap kit"
Kennyboy Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 Looking good Thanks Jonathan! pretty neat! what brand kit is that? that engine looks super detailed for being a "snap kit" It is the Revell Snap tite NSX. I added some lines and hoses to the engine but for the most part, it isn't too bad for a Snap!

o-man Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 You going to leave the wheels bronze or change to another color? You've done fantastic work so far, will be watching.

o-man Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I was just looking through pictures of one of the Tamiya versions I built, and this looks like a dead ringer for it. Hmmm.

More to come. I was just looking through pictures of one of the Tamiya versions I built, and this looks like a dead ringer for it. Hmmm. Could be a coincidence.....? I did do a LOT of cleanup to the body and the wheels/adding brakes totally changed the look. Here is the kit \/

Kennyboy Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 Decided that since I am building the Fast and the Furious Supra in orange that I should go a different color with the NSX.........HOK Majik Blue!! The color will POP a lot more in the sun.......but we need more of that these days here in the midwest!!
Scuderia Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Looks great, I built one of these back in the day in yellow, it's a good kit. Your additions will be even better, as I think TE37's are super versatile
