Obivion Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) Well after some trouble with the airbrush finally I got it going again. Now the basecoat is on. Unfortunately, as expected, found some minor details that need some more filling and sanding. Gives me some more time the think about the final color. I was thinking about Gulf-blue. Obivion Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 The Volksrod get its color. I choose Gulf blue. It is not really shiny yet, but it still must get a clearcoat. Dennis
1 bad55 stan Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Sweet little Bug your building Dennis,i will be watching..
Obivion Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 I am working on some bullet shape rear lights. I shaped them myself from some clear sprue. I will paint them with clear red paint.
Obivion Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) The home made bulletshape rearlights are finished. I add some layers clear red on them and finished them with a very small line BMF. After that I glued them on the car. Pictures are taken during drying. The car is standing straight up to avoid the lights slide down. But I think it gives a very good idea how it will look. Hope to find time this evening to add a clearcoat on the body. Maybe fun to know, they are about 6mm long and 2mm diameter. Dennis Edited March 16, 2014 by Obivion
hjracing Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Really nice project! The tail lights are a awesome idea!
Obivion Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 Found some time this evening to put the 2K Zeropaints clearcoat on the Volksrod. Later I will polish the car for the ultimate shine... Now lets concentrate on interieor, wheels and chassis... Still a long way to go Dennis
Obivion Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Just before giving the Rod a last wetcoat clear I did a dryfit to get an idea of how it looks. I am not unhappy. These rims are the ones to be fitted. After removing the chome I think I spray them cream/white and the spokes gulf blue. Dennis
Belugawrx Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Nice lookin' Have you thought of just Dullcote on rims and Gunmetal the spokes? Paint is looking great!!
crazyjim Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 That is one slick little car. I have mine in primer.

Chromecop Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 To me, I Think the rims should remain in chrome. That'd go best with the rest of the theme for this build! It gonna look killer when ready!
Obivion Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) Well a new idea... On an old Mercedes kit (someone gave it to me for parts) I found some nice rims with white walls. I am trying to clean them now and remove chrome and glue. I will use these, and make them simply gloss black. What do you think...? I think this is better... Dennis Edited March 20, 2014 by Obivion
crazyrichard Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 style wise perfect !! , the rear ones git great , sadly the front wheels are really too big if only they where 2 sizes smaller in the front
Obivion Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 I wish I had one pair smaller ones in the same style... Or I should use the original steelies in front. Also painted black. Dennis
cobraman Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Just one mans opinion but I much prefer the ones shown on your mock up .
