MsDano85gt Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 i missed that show and really wanted to watch it, my co worker roy said it was Great tho
High octane Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I think that I saw on TV tonight that it will be aired again on Wednesday night, but I'm not sure.
sjordan2 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Terrific all around. Can't get enough of that stuff (and I've got the 5-DVD "Beatles Anthology" documentary). Another good Beatles tribute with excellent covers is the George Harrison memorial performance, "Concert for George."PS: These forum ads are getting very sophisticated -- the page I'm on features a banner ad for the Beatles tribute group, "Rain," who will be performing in Knoxville on April 5. "Rain" is pretty good. I've seen them on youtube.
Lunajammer Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Skip, Rain, Go. I saw them several years ago and I can be a tad critical as are other Beatles fans who consider their music a bit sacred, but I was not disappointed. I see there's more than one touring cast now but the original was clearly deeply concerned with authenticity.
Greg Myers Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) I too watched it beginning to end and enjoyed it immensely! I remember back before John Lennon was killed, there was always speculation about a Beatles Reunion. When I heard he was dead, one of my first thoughts was that it now could never happen. Somewhere I heard the offspring of the Beatles were going to get together and do an album. http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/stop-the-presses/beatles-sons-really-form-own-band-211511971.html Edited February 11, 2014 by Greg Myers
sjordan2 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Please tell me this show will be released on DVD. Amazon has nothing listed.
Harry P. Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Please tell me this show will be released on DVD. Amazon has nothing listed. Too soon. The show was taped the same day the Grammy's aired (2-3 weeks ago?) So maybe too early for a DVD. Maybe in a while?
Craig Irwin Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 "Rain" is pretty good. I've seen them on youtube. Check out "The Return", I saw them last June and was very impressed. They are on youtube too.
Harry P. Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Check out "The Return", I saw them last June and was very impressed. They are on youtube too. Are they also a Beatles tribute band? There are a lot of them, I've seen 5-6-7 different ones on youtube. They are all really good... some of them can recreate the Beatle's songs so perfectly, note for note, you'd swear it was the real Beatles. Some of the guys in these bands even look a lot like the real Beatles.
Harry P. Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Check these guys out. Click on the video than on the "Watch on YouTube" link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb5bI0I1LI8
Tom Geiger Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Anyone remember Beatlemania on Broadway? I went to see it twice back in the early 1980s (two different girl friends ) I tend to like the lesser heard songs. Like on the special when they did "Get Back", I was hoping they'd continue on into "Dig A Pony" like on the album! I did watch the special and enjoyed every minute. I saw on my DVR last night that my wife had taped it. What good fortune. We must watch it again (zipping through the commercials of course!) before it falls off the bottom for disk space!
Harry P. Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I tend to like the lesser heard songs. Me too. Some of my favorite Beatles songs: And Your Bird Can Sing, Don't Let Me Down, Helter Skelter, I'm a Loser, I'll Cry Instead, Her Majesty, etc. The "big hits" are great, but there's so much more than just the songs everyone knows.

You got that right Harry.
Harry P. Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Forgot "I'm Only Sleeping" and "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party" and "I'm a Loser."
von Zipper Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 No "Across the Universe." They did play a short clip of " Across the Universe " while talking about John Lennon's biography.
mnwildpunk Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I still have my rubber soul and yellow sub records that I bought used in my teens granted I was born after they broke up but their music is timeless IMHO
Harry P. Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 ...but their music is timeless IMHO You got that right. A hundred years from now, the Beatles will be in the same class as Beethoven and Mozart are today.
bbowser Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 The only disappointing performance to me was Katy Perry. I don't remember what song she did, just that she butchered it. My first album was Sgt. Pepper, it was all downhill from there
Tom Geiger Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I still have my rubber soul and yellow sub records that I bought used in my teens granted I was born after they broke up but their music is timeless IMHO You reminded me... the first album I ever bought was Let It Be! I bought it in 1970 or 1971. Still have it.
Harry P. Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 The only disappointing performance to me was Katy Perry. I don't remember what song she did, just that she butchered it. My first album was Sgt. Pepper, it was all downhill from there She did "Yesterday." A little "breathy," IMO... maybe she was too aware of the fact that she was doing a legendary song and she tried a bit too hard. But not bad. She's a good singer trapped in the "teen idol" persona. Imagine what she could do if her "people" let her be more of an "adult" singer. I think she has the talent.
Tom Geiger Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 She did "Yesterday." A little "breathy," IMO... maybe she was too aware of the fact that she was doing a legendary song and she tried a bit too hard Imagine the pressure! Here you are, singing one of the legendary songs of all time, in front of the frickin Beatles live??
Harry P. Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Imagine the pressure! Here you are, singing one of the legendary songs of all time, in front of the frickin Beatles live?? Exactly. That's why I cut her some slack. She's a talented singer, but the pressure she must have felt was probably off the charts.
Craig Irwin Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I was going back and forth between The Beatles and Olympics. Beatles were better. To the right of Ringo & Barbara was a woman with short dark hair. Anybody know who she is? After watching the show again I think you may have been asking about Joe Walsh's wife, who is also Ringo's sister-in-law. The camera was never on anyone very long.
Craig Irwin Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I just saw this, after the Beatles tribute showed twice this week Beatles record sales got a boost. They now have 8 albums on the chart. not bad for a band that broke up 44 years ago.
