highway Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Wow, that was one hungry sinkhole!! 8 cars eaten and probably millions of dollars worth of Corvette history swallowed up! The couple from the list I noticed would be hardest to replace would be the millionth and 1.5 millionth cars and the ones on loan from GM. There can only be one millionth Corvette, and it's at the belly of the sinkhole. Talk about an expensive dinner!!
ToyLvr Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Bummer Ditto...... I've been meaning to make a pilgrimage there for years; never made the trip. Wonder how long it'll take to repair the museum, or if it's going to be Like those sink holes in Florida???
mrindy77 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 A sure sign of the apocalypse...REPENT...or be swallowed by the earth!
Austin T Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I still think it's hilarious. Now we have a few less midlife crisis mobiles in the world.

rel14 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 there only corvettes,,no great loss,, The sink hole was a big block Ford, and hungry for some chevy junk food....haha
tooltas Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 what 8 cars went down.............I bet ford's happy to see that.
ToyLvr Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 "Oops. My Bad. I thought it was the National Corvair Museum..." -Ralph Nader, seen wearing miner's helmet and carrying pick-axe. The Corvair museum is up in Ypsilanti, MI. It's safe (so far). I, for one, wish Nader had been there in Bowling Green at the appropriate time.... ;-)
JabMan Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Thought this was interesting and sad. Some nice cars lost there. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/02/12/sinkhole-opens-up-at-national-corvette-museum-swallows-cars/?intcmp=latestnews
DonW Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Yeah it's a great shame. We had a couple of these in the UK recently, one swallowed a car (not a 'Vette thankfully!), the other got some poor guy who was in his bed - they never found him... It's tragic about the museum cars, but am I right that no-one was hurt? How much warning do these things give people?
Lownslow Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Meh only Vettes find some other grandpa willing to loan theirs, if it was the Porsche museum id be visibly upset.
JabMan Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I don,t think anyone was hurt, at least the article didn't say, and thats a good thing. There probably was no warning, the ground just opened up. I think Yeah it's a great shame. We had a couple of these in the UK recently, one swallowed a car (not a 'Vette thankfully!), the other got some poor guy who was in his bed - they never found him. I beleave this same thing happened in Flordia, or maybe I am remebering hearing about the UK incident.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 there only corvettes,,no great loss,, The sink hole was a big block Ford, and hungry for some chevy junk food....haha Thought the same thing!!!!!
pharoah Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I was there about before they added on the conference room and things. Too bad,it's a nice place. I can't figure out what the big deal is about the 83 Vette. it looks like an 84,but it's got 82 type wheels on one side... 84 type wheels on the other side. I guess because it's the only one. If there were new Corvettes involved, I'd say 'fill it in'
ToyLvr Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'm going to contact the museum curator and offer to store a couple of the Vettes at my place until they get the museum repaired. ;-)

Quick GMC Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 My friend's uncle owns Calloway, they have a car on loan there, he told me it was pretty close to the hole.
