Darren B Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 Not much of an update, did get the rear tail light bars installed.
Darren B Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 (edited) I also just added to the complexity of the build, I was going to build this for the super boss that I started, then realized that it would be a great hauler for the rat rod pete. It is a little shorter than the super boss, but I think it will look really cool anyway, I can even rat rod out the hauler as well. I may also build something to fill the space behind the rat rod that could be chained down that would be used with the rat rod. Time will tell.... Edited November 8, 2017 by Darren B

You are really stepping up your game. Looks good from here Darren !   Be Well GatorThank you Gator, been real busy life wise, reason for a slow build time. But now that I have the Hauler to build it has re-energized my thought process as to what I can do with both now................... Edited November 8, 2017 by Darren B
gatorincebu Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Glad to see you motivated again >Â Â be Well gator
Darren B Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 The drivetrain on the rat rod is pretty wide, but will still use the papa truck as a hauler.
gotnitro? Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 good call using Papa for a hauler, like the idea of ratting it out fade the paint chip some edges, yeahjust dropping an idea ..how about a motorcycle behind the pete ? Â
Darren B Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Thanks Jeff, the bike thing is possible, I do have a cherry bomb 1/25th scale chopper I have not built yet. Just may work for the back of hauler, that and all the tires from the two pete kits I used for the rat rod.
Darren B Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 (edited) added motor mounts for the engine..... getting started on making the doors for the side of the ramp.... Edited November 15, 2017 by Darren B
Darren B Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 now have to work on the hinges and the inside of the box, not sure how one looks have been doing an internet search for what these boxes would look like inside, however can not find any, does any body know of a site that may help me here?
gotnitro? Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 About the hinges, do you want outside exposed type ? If so, maybe the method we've used for butterfly hoods would work here . Â It's super easy and functional. .did I mention it was easy ? Add a recessed slam lock on each door and bobs your uncle .Â

Darren B Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 Interesting rat rod build. Thank you.
Darren B Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 (edited) Getting the air intake to the turbo finalized. that was a big hurtle but was not to hard to make fit..... Also almost done with the exhaust pipes now working on how the exhaust will look to.... Edited November 18, 2017 by Darren B
Darren B Posted November 20, 2017 Author Posted November 20, 2017 Â I am going with straight pipes no bend, not as big as Scott's either...Working on the guards that would keep people off of the pipes...
Darren B Posted November 20, 2017 Author Posted November 20, 2017 (edited) Got the shields done and added grab handles, for the exhaust pipes, so now the exhaust is done... Edited November 20, 2017 by Darren B
Darren B Posted November 20, 2017 Author Posted November 20, 2017 quick mock up before having to install the engine, I like the straight pipe better and it fits pretty good....
Vince66 Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 (edited) Kerry, thank you , I am trying my hand at more scratch building and this project is perfect for that. The hinges idea came from this guy. It was even in the new trucker model magazine. Here is the link..http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/57658-autocar-sleeper-cab/?page=1I spaced mine way to far apart because I marked the aluminum with a ruler, Ray did his a lot closer together probably by hand but for my first attempt I wanted it more uniform. One thing that I found out about doing it this way you have to cut some space in the cab wall and the door for the hinge to fit between to work, Other than that its pretty easy. It is bigger than scale but a lot more tougher than the photo etch piano hinges from detail master.oh your a bad man now i want to do bad things to the truck i'm working on.thanks for the link to the door hinges Edited November 21, 2017 by NothingAsFineAsaW9

Darren B Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 Progress is looking good!!!!!DrKerry, thank you.
Darren B Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 Well I just discovered that the kit tank was to wide to fit correctly between the stacks, and since I do not want to have to shorten the tank I decided to use one from my only other truck kit the California hauler. so when I get to that kit Ill have to either scratch one or buy another kit. Have to keep my eye open for other snafus on this one.......
