bondo bill Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Here's a promo model that I found cheap because of the split in the hood and worn chrome. I'm still in the process of painting and finishing it. I want to alclad the chrome and finish painting and flocking the interior. If you have any opinions on the wheels (I'm thinking chrome reverse or mag maybe?) or how to remove the discoloration in the windshield, please let me know. Comments welcome! Here's what I started with: Here's where I'm at right now:
jeffs396 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Cool project Bill Maybe the AMT '61 Ford windshield would fit?
Racephoto1 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I never knew those Hubley models looked that nice. That's a fine looking wagon.
cobraman Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Doesn't look like a 1960 model to me. 1961 ?
Bill J Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That's a 61 alright. The AMT reissued 61 Galaxie kits are still around, there should be a match on the windshield.
disabled modeler Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Yep its a 61 wagon... I have one its rough too...bummer love wagons.

Lovefordgalaxie Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Let the glass on white vinegar for a couple of hours then wash it very well. Next, take some cotton balls and polish it with 3M perfect it fine scratch remover, and it should be looking like a brand new piece.

slusher Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Body color looks great and either wheel choice will look cool. Real nice work so far....
ChrisBcritter Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 And the AMT windshield won't fit since the Hubley kit is 1/24. I have an unbuilt one I started a long time ago (molded in white). In a fit of masochism I opened the hood and started detailing the chassis with '59 Skyliner parts; that's where it sits now.

That one is the same as mine molded in white....shame the burglars stepped on it....now it needs a body, glass, bumpers to restore it.
ratdoggy Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That would look cool as a rat rodded wagon with the blanket seat covers and a surfboard up top
