afx Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Motor Racing Replica News (Issue 4) did a nice article on the 2C and 2D. They used the 327 block from Monogram's Rampage Camaro but this was written in 1991(!). There has to be a better choice now. For the 427 I would suggest any of Revell's 70's Corvette kits (Owens Corning, Stars & Strips etc). Not sure about the 327, I would have to do some research.

The big-block in the McLaren is fuel injected, and the smallblock in the Corvette kits has SIDE-draft Weber DCO-series carbs. Neither of these induction systems is right for the Weber IDA DOWN-draft carbs you probably want.

So I am not real sure which scale they are. Regardless your right , the AM kits are a better choice.

The manifold and carb kit costs around $10-11 at Strada Sports

65slotcar Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 What Chaparral kit are you using? i'm putting an engine in the LS brand chaparral 2c and have the nice webers. just trying to find a proper 4 weber intake manifold. for this model and other chaparral projects that don't have engines.

I mentioned that in my first post, but there's not much difference between 1:24 and 1:25 and it must be possible to modify the 1:25 part to fit a 1:24 scale engine, maybe make it a bit longer and wider and you must be close...so it can't be that big a problem. afx: I have no idea what type of Weber intake manifold the Chaparral cars had, I just mentioned the ones I know are available wich isn't much, but it can't be that hard to modify the intake to resemble the one in your pic or maybe even scratch build one with some Evergreen plastic stock, the shapes looks easy enough to copy. Bill: Yes it's from the AMT 63 Corvette and it's in all issues after what I know...and even the 63 Corvette Convertible has this set up. Edited February 19, 2014 by Force

The cast alloy unit represented in the Corvette kit is probably the least likely to have been run in anger. Even a 6X1 setup early on... Quick GMC Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Just a heads up. I have the AM Grand Sport kit and I tried using the Webers on the Fujimi Cobra. Both are 1/25, but the Webers from the AM kit are WAY too big. Historic Racing miniatures make the nicest Webers around, but the stacks are molded in and the carbs are a little on the small side, so I am havign a hard time finding turned stacks to fit.
