Custom Hearse Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 where do you get the details like the gps from? i'm looking for some interior stuff for my trucks. kfs resin in England do a really good resin set, but I haven't seen any gps units. The GPS and Qualcomm is scratchbuilt, the rest is photoetched parts I bought years ago. I have the CMK photo etch set, it has the grille in it for the apu unit that looks like its under the bunk on one side of the truck. would those trucks have the unit on the back of the cab as well? sorry to be a pain(e), does the couch convert to a bed? or can you chose to get a bed instead of the couch? I want to put a bed into my cab when I build it. The APU sits on the frame on the left side of the truck. There is a fan that sits on the back of the cab that keeps the diesel motor cool. There is the A/C unit inside the cab that is run by the diesel that is underneath the bunk, but since the bunk won't be able to lift on the kit it would be useless for me to add all the details for it. The 1:1 ProStar has a couch that folds out into a bed. The truck I drove didn't have the couch option, just an upper and lower bunk. Asking questions is not being a pain. I'm happy to answer any question I can.
window Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 so the prostar has an apu on the frame, and another unit under the bunk? are they linked together? sorry, trying to get my head around it. in Australia most trucks run an apu unit called and icepack. they are basically small diesel generator that run an airconditioning unit in the cab, and also supply power to pints inside the cab.

Some trucks in the U.S. have APU's. The truck that I had had one installed. The electronics under the bunk are tied into the small diesel engine mounted on the frame, which is a reefer engine (the APU I had was made by Thermo King). The engine mounted to the frame is the only engine for the APU, there is no engine under the bunk.
Custom Hearse Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Here are some pics for the interior that I took... Here's the dash. You can see the CD in the disc player, the sunglasses on the dash, The Qualcomm to the right, 3 CD's on the seat in CD cases, the GPS sitting on the dash next to the steering wheel need to finish detailing it), and the switch for the shifter in white (need to paint it), just underneath the top of the shifter I corrected the 1/4 fenders to where they are supposed to be. In the spot the instructions have them mounted, they are too far forward. They fit perfectly in the spring hanger. (Matt- The box to the left is the APU...) Here is the cooling fan for the APU.
window Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 there are pics of lonestars and prostars with a vent on the side of the cab, which would be under the bed. what is in them? just electronics? loving the interior detail. great stuff

No... didn't feel evaporated. But I did have a problem when I plugged it into a 220 volt outlet instead of a 120...

Custom Hearse Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 ok, keep plugging along, we both seem to be in the home stretch with these I just went back thru the 9 pages of this build, now I want to see it complete Thanks Tom. Still adding little details to it. I redid the map holder because the first one looked terrible. I got the baseball cap painted and glued it to the dashboard next to the sunglasses. Looking forward to seeing yours finished as well. I keep looking at it for ideas that I can use in my build, so feel free to steal any idea you would like to use!
