Ever buy a model, 100% strictly for the box art ?

don't believe you Harry! With your graphic design background you at least have to admire the box art!

Oh, I can admire a nicely done illustration or slickly designed box cover. Absolutely. And there is a lot of very cool box art out there done by some pretty talented people. No question about that. I especially like Sean Svendsen's Moebius Chryslet kit art. Pretty cool, if you ask me.

But the question was have you ever bought a model kit based strictly on the picture on the box.

I would never buy a kit based strictly on the picture on the cover, no matter how well done. Because like I said, they can put anything on the box, and its relationship to what's actually in the box ranges from pretty solid to nonexistent.

Very nearly for the box art? Oh yeah. Round 2's been raking it in that way from me in recent years.

Luckily, there's also usually some good content backdating to go with that box art.
