Sportabout Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I started Flintstone phantom Hudson pickup. Resin body is quite good outside but inside is rough casting and needs some putty, Donor kit is Moebius Hornet '52. Hood needs sanding to fit in place and chassis was 4 mm too long. Spare wheel box, gas tank and wheel housings were removed. Flintstone recommends to use backseat and parcel shelf but used front seats as they are more realistic and can recline. There is room behind seat for luggages.
Sportabout Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Body, interior, chassis and frame has primered first time. They need some more putty and sanding. I added a side frame bar beside back wheel openings (if this is understandable in English ) Hope wheels still fit.
Sportabout Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) Can somebody measure front and rear track width from a built model? Rear wheels don't fit but side frame bars can bend a bit to get more room. Real Hornet specs: wheelbase 119.9 in | 3045 mm front track 58.5 in | 1486 mm rear track 55.5 in | 1410 mm http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z17207/Hudson-Pacemaker-Custom.aspx Edit: corrected dimensions Edited September 25, 2014 by Sportabout
Sportabout Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 All engine and chassis parts are now painted. For body I chose Jefferson Green and Mint Green combo from hudson colors. When the rest of the body is painted I start to built engine. Hudson H-145 inline six spark plug wire order is 1-5-3-6-2-4 clockwise as most I6 has.
Sportabout Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Ok, body is painted. It needs to dry completely before polishing and foiling. Colors don't show right in the picture but are too light.
Sportabout Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Engine is done at last. Throttle linkage is diy and distributor is a resin part. Interesting engine.
Sportabout Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 Here we go again but much progress has not happened. Interior parts are almost painted, floor flocked and side frames mended. Stance testing with modelhaus steel wheels.
Sportabout Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Small update. Interior is nearly ready and next parcel shelf and body polishing.
southpier Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 why do da flocking go so far back - or is it seen from the rear winnder?
Chuck Most Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Nice! I noticed the same thing about the JF wagon body- it's too short to fit over the chassis, but all the other kit parts seemed to fit it just fine.
Sportabout Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 Hudson's paint is polished and then coated with Future now but it is not enough smooth and glossy I expected. Can I polish it before I start foiling? I'm not very familiar with Future. Nice! I noticed the same thing about the JF wagon body- it's too short to fit over the chassis, but all the other kit parts seemed to fit it just fine. I have that wagon body too but donor kit will be different. Maybe from a modern mopar

Customking Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 If its possible you should add some surfboards in the back to add some feel to it
Sportabout Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 If its possible you should add some surfboards in the back to add some feel to it Nice idea. I have a couple surfboards available in some kits. I started foiling, I hate foiling. Still, a man's got to do what a man's got to do.
Sportabout Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Foiling has been done and it took a week with one coat future to protect it.

Sportabout Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 Small update. Engine, brake- and fuellines are assembled but handbrake cables are still missing. Steering parts must be installed in the engine room before body can be put in place. Side frame bar needs still some trimming but can be done, I hope
