very deteiled engine , the weird thing is the block itself with the parts is different styrene , more detailed and more yellow-ish .. the tranny is the normal white revell styrene ??

1510494_432104223589160_1264944390_n.jpg

even got a engine number on the block

1932490_432104210255828_1289360806_n.jpg

very rough dryfit , this kit even provided brackets , so no flying alternator in this kit , the power steering reservoir need a bit of changing to sit proper

1544956_432104253589157_782645733_n.jpg

then painted the exhaust chrome

1622827_432104270255822_520000249_n.jpg

and the heads with manifolds

1965043_432104263589156_654789090_n.jpg

stayed with the red for the engine like the kit said > whow firt time i went with what the kit tells you hahaha

thnx and yes i'm thinking real light silver .. i want to try and use the silver i do my chrome with , thats basicly ment as silver but comes out chrome .. but when you apply clear coats the chrome effect disapeirs and it becomes silver ... want to do a test first on a nother piece ..

silver would really accentuate the lines i think and give it that modern feel

Very cool build. I am getting ready to build the same kit so I will continue watching with great interest. I haven't settled on what I'm going to do with mine yet, but I am very intrigued by this theme. Thanks for sharing. I really like where you're going with yours and you have presented some cool ideas for thought, Richard. Best wishes!

thnx guys !! and looking forward to your build greg !!

Awesome progress Richard. What did you use on the back shelf ?

medical tape , the white stuff , that is just like cloth or fabric .. stick it on and paint it ...

did some clean up on the body and repainted it , then decided to test the clear on the hood ...

hmm looks great it turns from chrome to silver metallic and a nice darker tone .. this was like a test how this stuff would react ..

i wont use it anymore to paint a body .. the silver slivers on the edges , maybe it will go away after the clear dryes ..

the effect is kind of cool when you look at it for real .. but not what i needed haha

put the engine in teh chassis

1012264_433282253471357_146046558_n.jpg

and the exhaust , driveshaft and axle assembly

1001588_433282313471351_1352897461_n.jpg

where i glued the exhaust to the headers it needed some convinsing .. when dry i will flatten the transistion and put some chrome on there

1959706_433282333471349_890722369_n.jpg

there is more that i need to detail paint on thye underside but for now its on and in

painted some black on the bottom like there where blocks under the exhaust like spacers now painted black you hardly see them

1619132_433412136791702_812256402_n.jpg

also pianted some chrom on the front where the exhaust meets the headers , not a 100% but .. and i was bummed because i missed the lines on the mufflers .. should have flattned those ...

541918_433412130125036_707246681_n.jpg

painted the grille and headlight front black

To keep the silver from the streaking & darkening around the edges & valleys put the initial coat of clear on in a very light fog coat & allow it to dry before proceeding, this will"seal"the silver so that the clear coats won't cause the fine metallic in the silver to"float" & move around resulting in the sort of "puddling" effect that you now see one the hood. Unfortunately to get the hood straightened out you will probably need to strip it & start over, but if the extra paint build up isn't a problem, you can just recoat the silver base & allow it to dry completely before proceeding with the clear coats. Nice job on the "Pro Touring" look.

thnx guys

and thnx horsepower .. i will def. try that in the future .. usually i can put the clear one in a nice thick wetcoat and that always comes out great on non metallic paint .. but like you said with metallic it doesnt work .. so i wil def. try that in the future > thnx !!

i stripped everything also because the silver wasnt perfect , that paint is real thin .. so i will start over

90% there , only have to flatten it again , get all the stuff out of the small corners etc and primer it
