martinfan5 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Finally made it to bench, body color I think its going to be orange , up first, work on the engine And a quick mock up to see the ride height, and it looks like its going to need to be lowered a little bit
maltsr Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Nice start Jonathan, are you going to use the Tamiya Metallic Orange?
martinfan5 Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Nice start Jonathan, are you going to use the Tamiya Metallic Orange? I think I am going to use a Model Master Lacquer shade I have on hand Edited March 11, 2014 by martinfan5
shucky Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Those thick sidewall tires ... When will they learn. Appreciate you sharing the build though! Anxious to see more and to see the engine built up.
665@213 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I've been wanting to see 1 of these kits done. Looks like youre off to a fine start. Curious to see how that new % liter will look like built up.
martinfan5 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 On the topic of the body color, I think I am going in different diretion, more to come on that later, up first, a little more work on the engine, after looking at the pic, I see I need to touch up the valve covers in the holes and a few other spots , I used metalizer gun metal instead of a black , and I used Tamiya Brilliant Blue, so far, no issues with the build
lambrakos Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I'm pulling up a chair!! Looking forward to the finish line!
BIG NICKY Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 definitely watching this one .....looking great!!!!!!!
mademan Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Cant wait to get mine! I bought an Aoshima Lambo Aventador, and cast the tire set, specifically for this project! Very nice Pirellis with nice tread, nice and meaty out back , and very nice sidewall detail.
martinfan5 Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) I am sure you are waiting to see what shade of purple I am going with, well here it is, I am also going to be using the primer as well, thought I would give it a try And started work on lowering the ride height , up first was the front, cut down the attachment point and in the rear and cut down the springs and removed a little bit off the top of the axle , just a tad bit to much as I cut through and now the new ride height, I wanted to go just a tad bit lower in the front, but that would mean having to break out the dremel and grinding down the under side of the wheel well, but there is not a lot of plastic that can be removed without going through Edited March 14, 2014 by martinfan5
martinfan5 Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 And some primer shots , and working on removing the mold lines, which are not that bad, also deepened the panel lines
Scuderia Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 In this months 5.0 mag they lowered a Boss and the stance looks eerily similar. Good job, and that thing looks wicked even in primer.
martinfan5 Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Painted the body over the weekend, had some trying to get the camera to show the true shade
kelson Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Looks good so far, since the color isn't stock are going to use the stock decals or something different?
lambrakos Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) Oh Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! It's turning into a plum crazy purple Mopar! Just kidding! I have nothing against Mopars!......! . Nice work so far! Your photos have some heavy shadows. Try moving around your lighting so the shine and body lines of the model show much better. (Just my 2 cents for what they are worth). kymdlr Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I made one about a year ago from the revell 2010 kit.
martinfan5 Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Looks good so far, since the color isn't stock are going to use the stock decals or something different? I will probably still use the stock decals we can call it a "what if" they offered it in this color
