Ramfins59 Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 Thank you all very much. The car is wrapped in parchment paper, then in bubble wrap, in a promo style box, then in a larger box surrounded with styrofoam peanuts, sealed with clear packing tape. It'll be dropped off at my local P.O. tomorrow and David should probably have it by the middle of next week. I'll know when I get his phone call...... I can't wait...!!!
Ridge Rider Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Another nice build Rich. It sounds like it's packed well, be sure to update us with your brothers reaction. Now back to the 50s ?
A.R.C. Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Very cool Richard. Not only a very slick build but a heck of a nice gift.
Tom Geiger Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Looks great Rich, I'm sure your brother will love it! The only two negatives I can think of about this project are 1. You have to trust the post office. and 2. You won't get to see his face when he opens it! It is sooo much better to give a cool gift than to receive!
Sixties Sam Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Great looking Caddy, Rich! Good work. Your brother will love it! Sam
Ramfins59 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Thank you all so very much for all of your kind comments on this model project. At the risk of getting a little "sappy", believe it or not, I actually have not "seen" my brother in about 10 years, although we speak over the phone or stay connected by emails at least once a week. Since I don't drive anymore, I don't get to visit him in New Hampshire as often as I used to when I lived on Long Island, NY (at least 2X yearly) since having my stroke. Since my wife and I moved to western PA in Dec. 2006 we haven't seen each other due to the increased distance involved, etc. He doesn't drive here and I can't drive there..!! I'm sure that receiving this model will do a lot to "reaffirm our bond". As I said earlier, I can't wait to get the phone call that I know will come when he gets the surprise. Tom G., you are so right! It is so great to see the look of surprise and joy on the face of someone that you've given such a personalized gift to, and I'd love to be a "fly on the wall" when he opens the box. It more than makes up for any costs involved and any hassles you went through. As far as trusting the P.O., it's insured, and based on the way I packed it (not my first rodeo) the box would have to literally be crushed for the model to be damaged. (Let's hope that doesn't actually happen...!!!) Yes Ridge Rider, I will be sure to post the response I get from my Bro, and yes, I'm going back to the 50's again....... Geeze... I take one little break to do up a 60's car and you gotta jump on me...??? LOL Next on the workbench is a '59 Plymouth Fury Johan promo. Thanks again everybody.
Jordan 191 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Insomniacs and modelers are kindred spirits. Awesome model as always.
Ramfins59 Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 My brother just called to tell me that he got the package, and that he absolutely LOVES the model. I'm very happy that it arrived in good condition, and that he is happy with it. I could almost hear him smiling over the phone.
