dragin70s Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 OK, can someone help me out. I sprayed a body with what I thought was the correct color, but it turns out it was too light. Can I spray a slightly darker lacquer color over the original layer of lacquer? Using different brands of paint? I would be using Testor's over Black Gold. Any input appreciated.
cobraman Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Do a test before spraying the body. Use a plastic spoon and spray you first color and then the second when dry. However it may be best to strip and start over to avoid problems and paint build up. Good luck.
High octane Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I've mixed Testors, Black Gold, Tamiya, Dupli-Color,and MCW lacquer paints with no problems. Many guys use plastic spoons to test primers, paints, and colors with great results. I don't, I just paint by the "seat of my pants" and usually get the results I'm lookin' for. Do whatever works.
dragin70s Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 Thanks, guys. I appreciate the input. I'll do some testing and see where it goes.
slusher Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 It is always good to save old unpainted bodies and hoods for paint testing for the best paint results..
Skip Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Having been bit by "Hot Lacquer" once or twice I would say test before spraying it on any project. Cheap insurance.
